In an effort to generate a positive vibe and boost home ticket sales in anticipation for the 2011 football season, Southern unveiled a new ad campaign Monday.

The ad appears on the Lamar digital poster on Essen Lane near the Albertson’s grocery store and features Southern head football coach Stump Mitchell and SU Quarterback Club president Ed Lewis. The ad is just one of future campaign aimed towards encouraging the Jaguar Nation to get in the game by getting in the stands.

“This is a great opportunity for fans to get great seats to all the home and away games and at last even the Bayou Classic, said head coach Stump Mitchell.” “(We want the fans to) ‘Get in the Game.'”
Southern is expecting the new ad campaign to aid in the athletics department goal to rebuild, revive and restore that ‘ole Southern spirit.’

“This type of campaign is new for Southern University Athletics. But it’s whats needed to promote our teams, said Sandy Pugh, interim athletics director. “It is our intent to get the message out there, ‘Be a part of our “new beginning.’ We want you in the game.’ (The campaign is) a good one!”

The ad appears for six second and runs on a continuous loop that can be seen every 30 seconds.
