Robert Prunty is apparently out as the football coach at Hampton, the school announced on Tuesday.
Prunty, hired by Hampton in 2018, went 26-29 over five seasons. In 2023, the Pirates went 5-6 in 2023 as part of the Coastal Athletic Conference.
Hampton did not explain why Prunty is no longer with the program. Running backs and special teams coach Trent Boykin, a veteran of 28 years of collegiate coaching experience, was named interim coach.
Boykin previously had coaching stops at Akron and Boston College.
