University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff head men’s basketball coach Alonzo Hampton has agreed to a three-year extension, the school announced.
“Coach Bozeman and UAPB basketball have achieved unprecedented success on the court and in the community that has helped transform our athletics department and university,” said Vice Chancellor of Athletics Chris Robinson. “We are excited that Solomon and his family are remaining as part of our UAPB family. He has made it clear to us that he wants to be here, and we have done likewise with him. We share a strong confidence in the present state of UAPB Men’s Basketball.”
There is optimism surrounding the UAPB basketball program. The team has increased their win total over the past two seasons.
In Bozeman’s two years leading UAPB, several former players have gone on to sign professional contracts, including Dequan Morris (Tundja Yambul), Trey Sampson (Lugano Tigers), Shawn Williams (Starwings Basket Regio Basel) and Shaun Doss (KTP Basket).
The Golden Lions bring back nine players from last year’s squad. One of the four newcomers is Bethune-Cookman transfer and 2022-23 SWAC Preseason Player of the Year Joe French.
