After Southern’s lack luster, nationally televised performance which resulted in a 6-0 defeat to Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night, it was just a matter of time before all hell would break lose on The Bluff.
WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge is reporting that Southern University officials are asking for head football coach Stump Mitchell’s resignation.
“A meeting took place Friday morning between Southern officials and Mitchell.
According to sources, Jags officials are asking for Mitchell’s resignation.
He is 6-18 overall and 0-2 this season.”
For the Delta Devils, they are now 1-1 for the season and 2-21 overall since Karl Morgan took over as head football coach in 2010.

Matt Boudreaux of WVLA-TV 33 in Baton Rouge is reporting that Mitchell was not asked to resign.
Southern Athletic Director William Broussard tells me there was not a meeting this morning with Jaguar head football coach Stump Mitchell asking him to resign.
Broussard says those reports claiming the third year head coach was asked to resign Thursday morning are “completely fabricated.”
