Kudos goes out to UAPB’s Raymond Webber for finally making TSN’s Walter Payton Award list of finalists. UAPB head football coach Monte Coleman and other sources close to UAPB athletics informed me that an organized effort was created late during the season to get Webber’s name on the list
It’s unfortunate that we had to go to such great lengths to make case after case for why Webber should be on the list, but better late than never. It paid off. According to a TSN press release Webber was the last addition to the list.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff senior wide receiver Raymond Webber was the final addition among the Payton Award finalists. He leads the FCS with 101 receptions and 1,429 receiving yards and has caught 10 touchdowns.
Webber now joins Jackson State quarterback Casey Therriault and Grambling running back Frank Warren on the list of finalists from the SWAC.
