@ECSU_NCCU_Christopher ..If you're referring to Sam Washington then that might be why Valley pulled the trigger of "The Devil's Gun!". And if you are correct maybe their AD sees this as not only bringing in an experienced coach but also a splash hire!

Supports and alumni have not been happy for awhile, so I am not surprise that this happen. It would not surprise me that an announcement on who the new coach is going to be for A&T is going to happen before any of the other coach position get filled. Also, don't be surprise if the former A&T coach ends up at Valley.

The ages of the last 2 Valley coaches hired have been 33 and 38 so I don't think that Valley is gonna hire a coach close to 60 or in their 60s

Then again, I don't trust an interim AD who is also the basketball coach who isn't good at his main job

Rumor has it that the Valley decision was not football related, but I don't know how true that is though. What I did hear, social media, is that their is talk about Coach Brown, former coach at A&T, possibly being the new coach for Valley. While I do believe Coach Washington would be a better coach for Valley over Coach Brown, I am not sure if Coach Washington wants to move outside of the Virginia\North Carolina area due to family.

It seems like Elizabeth City State is going with an Interim head coach, the DC being promoted to the position. I am not sure if they are even going to look for a new head coach, but it sure does look like they are trying to save money again with coaches doing two jobs and not having a CB and QB coaches. Time will tell how this will end up, but it sure does not inspire confidence in ECSU ever being mighty again in football.

Maybe an older coach like Washington or Brown aren't looking for their next jobs as a young Dancy or Wade might be looking to "hit the portal". Maybe an older dedicated coach( alum) can bring a different type of stability ?

I'm not against Washington if he applied. He was 7-4 in his last year at A&T so at least he's a proven winner but he's 64. Don't know if he wants to leave home for 4-5 years for a rebuild and a meddling president (although he would have 20 more scholarships and much better facilities than when he wanted the job 10+ years ago)

But outside of him or maybe Buddy Stephens (not happening but still), most of the guys on our wish list are under 50 (and this doesn't include Ed Reed who will probably apply for every opening)

These coaches not even given time to build is crazy it took doug 3 seasons to win a championship at gram
I think schools also look at the progress of the program under coaches. NCAT was going nowhere fast under Brown. At a school that had been really good over the last 8-10 years, having consecutive 1-win seasons just isn't going to cut it. That impacts recruiting and, ultimately, investment from stakeholders. But most coaches should get at least 3 years if there is an improvement each season.

In my "DJay" voice from the movie Hustle & Flow.... "Hey mane.... come on back to the hood mane... we miss ya' Skinny (Black)....Da' peoplez miss ya'a mane.... come on back home mane..... You remember how we used to get down.... What happened to ya' mane?.... You been around 'dem YT (SU) people too long mane..... Come on back home where you belong.... We need ya' mane...."

Shawn Gibbs

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T named its new head football coach.

Shawn Gibbs will return to Aggieland. This time, he returns as the 23rd head football coach in NC A&T football program history.

Like someone else mentioned....Valley's situation may not have been football related.....(just saying)

You might be right but it's the timing that sent many Valley alums over the edge and want him gone

We (including myself) simply don't trust THIS president or the interim AD to hire the right football coach. The president ran off a successful AD back to JSU and the interim AD hasn't done well in his primary job so why would Valley alums trust him to hire a football coach
