Grambling State University’s decision to name its football field after Doug Williams is criticized in this edition of The HBCU Sports Podcast.
While the intention to honor former players is appreciated, Williams has already been honored multiple times with a street and a center named after him.
The argument is that the university should consider honoring other NFL Hall of Famers who have not received similar recognition for their contributions, such as Paul “Tank” Younger, Willie Davis, Buck Buchanan, Charlie Joiner, and Willie Brown.
