NORFOLK, Va., – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced the suspension of a Norfolk State football student-athlete following an altercation during the Norfolk State-Virginia State contest last Saturday.
“Following a thorough review of the game’s video footage, the Norfolk State student-athlete was suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct and is ineligible for this weekend’s contest versus James Madison per NCAA and MEAC policies,” the conference stated in a release.
Sources have told HBCU Sports the suspended student-athletic is sophomore quarterback Juwan “Pootie” Carter, who completed 15 of 27 passes for 185 yards in the Spartans’ 34-13 win over VSU before being ejected.
The Spartans will host No. 2 James Madison at Dick Price Stadium Saturday at 6 p.m.
