Jamarii Thomas’ 2023-24 season earned him Mid-Eastern Conference men’s basketball player and newcomer of the year honors.
As it turns out, it will likely be his only season at Norfolk State.
According to a report by Travis Banham of 247Sports, Thomas has entered the transfer portal after guiding the Spartans to the MEAC regular season championship and the conference tournament semifinals.

A transfer from UNC-Wilmington, Thomas was the lightning rod for a Spartans team that won the College Invitational Tournament championship.
Thomas averaged 17 points, four assists, and four rebounds per game in 2023-24, with his season high of 31 points leading NSU past Illinois State 64-58 on Dec. 9. That game made headlines for accusations of racial slurs being thrown at Norfolk State players and coaches.
