Winston-Salem, NC- The Livingstone College women’s basketball team is most certainly a force to be reckoned with, now 20-0 overall and 11-0 in the conference.

The #11 ranked squad, defeated the Rams of Winston-Salem State University 64-56 on Saturday (Jan.31) inside LJVM Coliseum.

The Blue Bears got a game-high 16 points from Precious Roberts, 12 points from Kyra Crosby and 11 points from Amber Curtis.

The Blue Bears put on quite a performance in the first half, holding the Rams to just 10 points at the half.

The Lady Blue Bears gave the crowd an electrifying showing, shooting a blazing 34.8 percent from the floor over the mere 9.8 percent the Rams managed to muscle up in the first half.

Pure shooting ability, mental toughness and teamwork all played a part in the showdown.

The Blue Bears showed off their offense, and did an impressive job holding the Rams’ leading scorer Dionna Scott in check, who went 0-of-3 from the field in the first half, posting with no points before break.

The teams went into halftime with a lopsided score of 28-10, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

The Rams started the second half with an 11-4 run, teasing their way back to a single digit deficit of just four points with just under 9:00 left to play.

The Rams were en route to gaining back momentum, but the Lady Blue Bears received strong offensive efforts from Kyra Crosby, Amber Curtis and Cierra York.

The crowd saw a little scare as the Rams managed to pulled within six points (60-54) with just 48 seconds on the clock, after the Rams produced back-to-back three pointers from the Rams’ Scott and Carter.

Unfortunately, the Rams’ plan to send Roberts and York to the free-throw line did not work in their favor, as the Blue Bears posted out with yet another victory.

Roberts who led all scorers with 16 points, added seven rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Crosby who trailed with 12 points, also had a team-high eight rebounds, and one steal.

Curtis with 11 points, pulled down four rebounds, dished out two assist and ran away with two steals.

The Lady Blue Bears were able to see 27 points off the bench and capitalize 19 points off 26 turnovers.

The team who remains undefeated will look to extend record this Saturday (Feb. 7) as they return home to face the Bears of Shaw University again.

The team will square off at 5:30 P.M. inside New Trent Gym.
