Joyfully reported yesterday by C-Leb28 on the TSPN message board, Texas Southern fired head football coach Steve Wilson after a dismal 0-9 start. Defensive coordinator DeChon Burns will serve as interim head coach for the remaining two games on the TSU schedule.
Wilson was named the head coach at TSU in 2004 after spending three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Bowie State. He is mostly known for the 13 seasons he served as the head football coach at Howard University, his alma mater.
TSU will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Saturday and will close its season against the University of Houston November 24.
Brandon Williams of the Houston Chronicle provides more details on the firing of Wilson.
This is a good thing for TSU!!!! TSU will need to be very careful in the hiring on the next HC. Hopefullly they can bring in someone that can get them back to winning some football games.
OK Totten has been at Valley for how long! Why is he still allowed to coach football. I’m glad for the fans of TSU but we Valley fans need a change too. Can the SWAC ask that he be fired too?
