I really doubt that the SWAC would get an automatic bid into a "championship" game like that with all the other 1-AA conferences out there.

We will get our Arse kicked if we were to get into the 1-AA championship...Hopefully one day we'll have teams focus on winning the d-1aa championship and not so consumned with just a SWAC title and that's it...
Having been apart of a previous SWAC championship team and that same team went on to beat the defending champions in the NCAA regionals, I will never downgrade someone else's rise to the top of the SWAC. Because it felt good...

I can't even take Mighty Dog's idea seriously. :goof: It will never happen nor should it happen. But back to the topic of the thread, a football program must have a certain number of Division I-A wins to qualify for ANY bowl game. And what most people don't understand is that the lower bowls don't have huge payouts. The bowl system is profitable for BCS schools and that's why they don't want a playoff system.

Dude, the SWAC and every other I-AA conference gets a small check from the BCS.You ARE mistaken, but then again, I'm not surprised.

Which, the conference or the individual school?
1. What bowl sponsors would put up money to have a SWAC school and another Division 1-AA school play, when as a whole the SWAC has trouble drawing fans? The championship game is not even sold out. The SWAC has enough trouble getting a decent TV contract and other D1-AA are not that sexy either. So another bad idea.
2. The SWAC is not the best confence in college football. Our teams get humuliated by Division 1 teams and get beat by Division II teams. We have no creditibility.
3.Why should the SWAC champion play the Div 1 national champion anyway? It's stupid. It's like the Ohio St./Florida winner playing Texas after theh BCS title game. It makes no sense.

There is no back of the bus mentality when we refuse to get on the bus.
We are happy with the revenues from the "classics" and the SCG. We don't want other people's money or to compete for the national championship. So, we had better shine in those venues and send our standout players to all-star games if we want them to be seen.
Oh...that's what we do now. Where there is no vision, the people perish.

Trust me, I know how STUPID and DUMB it sounds. This would never happen in the near future BUT if the SWAC could somehow rise from doormat status, kick a lot of PWC azz during the season on a regular basis, it could happen. Thirty years ago, we never thought things would be as bad as they are today. This scenerio only works if that trends changes. It has a 0.0001% chance of happening but again, I have learned to never say never. TNState ended the year 11-0 a few years ago and beat PWC's doing it. If SU or Grambling schedules a 4 year deal with McNeese and beats them 3 or 4 of those years and McNeese wins the 1-AA Championship during those years, the argument could be brought up, especially if we all step our game up win during the season. Whether they would agree or not is different story but the final 1-AA poll could realistically have Grambling 12-0 and ranked number one with McNeese at 14-1 ranked second IF the SWAC has a whole improves greatly. Believe it or not, this is actually a part of the SWAC's goal in 1-AA. The reason we are not in the playoffs is to make more money. The belief is that more money will make us more competitive. IF the plan works and we can increase our recruiting budgets, hire good coaches, etc...it could happen...just not tomorrow.

Actually, I remember this now. It was discussed when the BCS was formed to make others not feel so left out and get nothing.

You just post just to post don't you? Dude EVERY D1 conference gets a payout from the BCS. Last year EVERY D1AA conference got about $225,000 from the BCS. Damn dude. Proof that you just talk out your ass right here, an you want someone to listen to you about moving the SCG to Jackson, but you don't even know how much money is generated by any of these things.

1.Stop crying and ever alumni member give at least $200 to the school, if you know a alumni of the school get them active.
2.Start using that new alumni money to make sure we play better games for our schools. lets let the dII and lowers go. let some of the DI bcs schools go. Play montana and app state's of the world.
3.Stop getting hookup on tickets and just try buying them. that actually feel good in a wierd way.
4.use our new alumni power to get back into the playoffs
5. Start being real. once we see the truth we will start making better decisions for our schools
