The second domino to fall , notre dame is the pending third., NCAA will be no more… they don’t have by-laws in place to make schools listen in these NIL deals and they won’t have rules to enforce super conferences that flat out bring in just as much overall money or more than the NCAA. It’ll be interesting to see how FCS replies before this decade is over with.

The FCS schools don't have a dog in this fight as those FBS Big Dogs are getting all the money. The rest of the FBS schools are trying to get the big money but it isn't there for them.

When we get that life changing donation like amazon or so Athletics is made sure to not even think about asking for a a dollar

There's a reason morehouse has yet to thrive

Why do we need life changing donations? The Black dollar is the strongest in the economy. Why can't we just take care of our own?

We're taught not to as a whole - charity and philanthropy in the black community is the church and that's it -

We have no issues spending money to floss and line celebrity pockets in the hood but none of that is helping the area as a whole

What's funny, UNC had a fundraising campaign, and it mostly grassroot alumnis donating to the University.

We can never compare ourselves with a PWI. Because, they have the enrollment and money.

If 5000 alumnis did $20.00 a week. That's a $100,000 a week rolling into the school. Basically, that's a total of 5.2 Million into the school every year.

Every game a team plays in the NCAA Tournament (even the First Four) is worth one monetary unit for the conference. In 2022 for example, an NCAA Tournament unit was worth $338,887. So, Texas Southern -- by playing two games in the tournament -- made close to $700,000 for the SWAC to be split 12 ways. Schools aren't gonna see that cash playing at the D2 level.
You would know better than me but I thought when Charles became Commish he changed it to where the money went to the University who won the games. Or am I confusing it because when Duer was comish it went to the SWAC and not the institutions.

$20 a week for that cause to some is like putting their heads in a vat full of hot grease but will spend more for parking, drinks and food for overrated instagram restaurants without hesitation. 8 hours later it's in the toilet and helped no one except the owner who's living the good life overcharging you for atmosphere

Or, the reality that hbcu grads are a super small percentage of black folks. The average person isn't donating to something they dont have ties to. On top of that, black folks also make far less money as a whole. Honestly, its up to the universities to give people reasons to want to support. People spend money on "flossing" because they are things that they like. Im sure people here drive luxury cars when they could've just bought an escort.. thats just life. And then there's all the folks that racked up a ton of debt in school that are still paying it back and can barely pay their bills. Buying power has increased in the black community definitely, but the vast majority of those black grads also graduate from PWC's. And our buying power is still nowhere near white folks and never will be simply due to population size in the US. They have far more options to choose from. They also hound the hell out of you constantly with calls and emails for donations.

I mean who didnt see it coming other than TigerPride. He knew GT was going to get left out so I get it. Poor ACC and Pac 12 getting devoured.

ACC - App State, Coastal Carolina

PAC12/10 - SDSU, BYU (I know they are heading to the Big 12) or Boise State

Not big names but solid replacements.

I don't see Notre Dame going to the ACC if Clemson and FSU/Miami leaves unless they wanna be the big dogs in a "P5" conference (don't see it)
Man, yall be doing the ACC bad.. lol In no way shape or form would the ACC have to get Sunbelt teams...lol First of all the ACC is safe. We will get Notre Dame and we have just as big of names/brands as the Big 10 or SEC.

Don't be surprised when the ACC announces USF, Notre Dame, West Virginia or some variation of a Dallas or Houston school has made application.
USF.. no... lol yall be doing the ACC so bad, I promise! LOL Central Florida, maybe but still probably NO. West Virginia, maybe. You are right. The next move for the ACC needs to be in Texas (Baylor, Houston) and maybe a school like Kansas to add to the bball prowess of the conference. We already have Notre Dame.

Also, Georgia Tech will never be left out of ANYTHING. If those schools do leave, I bet you anything the Big 10 comes after GT for the ATL market, our brand, our academics, etc. Dont forget the Big 10 looks at academics. The SEC does not.

Conference realignment has been the talk of college athletics for the past few weeks now with USC and UCLA bolting for the Big Ten. It feels inevitable that we will see more teams move on from their conference as the Atlantic Coast Conference appears to be next.

The ACC has some intriguing programs in terms of their brand, success, prestige and location for realignment. Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, Miami, Florida State, and Notre Dame are all near the top of the list and it would be shocking to not see them move on.

As the ACC tries to fight off interest from the SEC/Big Ten in their teams, things are going to get really interesting in the coming months especially with the talks potentially heating up.

But which programs fit the conferences the best and which are the most desirable in terms of realignment?

We ranked every ACC team based on that and where their ideal and eventual landing spot could be. I should note, we did add Notre Dame to this list due to their involvement in basketball with the ACC.

California governor Gavin Newsom demands UCLA explain how leaving Pac-12 for Big Ten is beneficial

In the wake of UCLA's departure to the Big Ten Conference alongside USC, California governor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that he demands an explanation, on behalf of the public, for just how the move will be beneficial for not just student athletes, but the history of their partnership with UC Berkeley.

"The first duty of every public university is to the people - especially students," Newsom said in a statement to the LA Times at Wednesday's meeting of the UC Board of Regents in San Francisco. "UCLA must clearly explain to the public how this deal will improve the experience for all its student-athletes, will honor its century-old partnership with UC Berkeley, and will preserve the histories, rivalries, and traditions that enrich our communities."

.....

"UCLA leadership informed [University of California] President [Dr. Michael] Drake that discussions between UCLA and the Big Ten were occurring but he was not involved at all in those discussions or in any negotiations," a spokesperson for the University of California Office of the President told ESPN in an email. "... decisions related to athletics are formulated and executed at the campus-level. There is no requirement for a decision from the University of California Board of Regents or the Office of the President."

Let's not forget the money. I know this is about the NIL, but to me it is related.

BTW Shannon Sharpe was one the best athletes in the state when he came out of high school.

Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart worried about college football players getting too much, too fast from NIL

Jul 19, 2022

ESPN Staff Writer

Georgia coach Kirby Smart on Tuesday raised concerns about the "reverse system" of name, image and likeness deals and his frustrations with the recruiting calendar.

In a question-and-answer session with coaches at the Texas High School Coaches Association convention in San Antonio, Smart was asked whether he's tired of answering questions about NIL yet.

"Hell yeah, and y'all are tired of hearing about that s--- too," Smart said, to laughs across the room.

But he discussed his concern about players getting too much, too fast.

"It's unfortunate that it slid the way it did because I was one of the biggest advocates that the name, image and likeness [rule] needed to be in place," Smart said. "Look, it is not for everybody. Everybody's not gonna make the same amount of money off of it. ... You're gonna have different pay scales for different guys. I can accept that.

UCLA announced it will move to the Big Ten. Not so fast, says its governing board
Two University of California regents told the Los Angeles Times that they believed their governing body retained the authority to block UCLA's planned move from moving the Pac-12 to the Big Ten, though they stopped short of saying that authority would be exercised.

“All options are on the table,” one Regent said.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten's massive new TV deal could give UCLA some high-caliber ammunition to ward off such a move.
