Delaware State University has become the latest university to reach an agreement with a Name, Image and Likeness organization as the university has partnered with Opendorse to create opportunities for athletes.
The Hornet Marketplace will function as a space for fans, brands, and partners to access the profiles of DSU athletes who are participating in NIL activities.
The University’s 20 athletic programs will give their athletes the power to create their own profiles on the Hornet Marketplace, promoting social media channels and affiliations with other organizations.
“Delaware State University’s commitment to preparing student-athletes for success beyond graduation is well-established. Now, we are thrilled to introduce the Hornet Marketplace as a platform for our student-athletes to fully capitalize on their NIL opportunities while actively competing,” DSU athletic director Alecia Shields-Gadson said in a statement.
Opendorse chief operating officer Blake Lawrence added: “The introduction of the Hornet Marketplace today underscores DSU Athletics’ dedication to championing student-athletes both on and off the playing field. I eagerly anticipate witnessing the support that Hornet fans, brands, donors, and sponsors extend to our student-athletes. This collaboration signifies a substantial advancement in empowering student-athletes and cultivating meaningful relationships with their backers and partners.”
