The best defensive player in the MEAC has decided to turn pro.
North Carolina A&T defensive end Darryl Johnson Jr. announced he will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Johnson, a redshirt junior who was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, made the announcement on his Instagram page on Saturday.
“As I venture out to my new journey in the NFL, I want to acknowledge and pause and say thank you God for the talent and blessings you have given to me. God Bless Darryl “BAM” Johnson,” Johnson wrote.
Johnson was named to the STATS FCS All-America Team and led the Aggies with 19 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks.
