NEW ORLEANS – Grambling State’s run in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament was ended by Tulane, as the Lady Tigers fell 66-49 in the second round.
GSU (19-15) was done in during the second quarter, when — after entering the frame down 23-15 — the Green Wave outscored the Lady Tigers 15-4 in the period. Grambling struggled particularly during the stretch run of the first half, as the Lady Tigers were scoreless for the final five minutes of the second. Tulane closed the half up 19, thanks to a 12-2 scoring run during Grambling’s cold streak.
The Lady Tigers’ rough second quarter was too much to overcome, as Tulane led by as many as 24 at points during the rest of the way.
Monisha Neal and Shakyla Hill each had 12 points and 10 boards each, although Neal struggled from the floor (3-of-16). Grambling shot 29.3 percent (17-of-58) from the floor. Kolby Morgan led a balanced scoring effort from Tulane, as she had 15 points. Four Green Wave players notched double-figures in points.
