A one-time HBCU women’s basketball standout has a chance to make a name for herself in the WNBA.
Zaay Green, who made an impact in two seasons at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, signed a development contract with the expansion Torono Tempo, the organization announced Tuesday.

A 6-foot-2 guard from Duncanville, Texas, Green averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game over two seasons at UAPB under then-head coach Dawn Brown. Green earned second-team all SWAC honors in 2021-22 and 2023-24 after missing the 2022-23 season with an injury.
Before UAPB, she spent time at Tennessee and Texas A&M before transferring to Alabama for the 2024-25 season. She was drafted in the third round of the 2025 WNBA draft by the Washington Mystics but never suited up for the team. She has played professionally in Lithuania, Mexico and Cyprus, averaging 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
