The second edition of the Celebration Bowl earned an improved rating from last year on the first day of the college bowl season.
The North Carolina Central- Grambling State game drew a 2.0 overnight rating on ABC Saturday afternoon, according to Sports Media Watch.
The 2.0 rating was the second highest of the day, only trailing the Las Vegas Bowl featuring San Diego State-Houston which drew a 2.6 rating on ABC.
Online streaming numbers for the Celebration Bowl were up 54 percent from last season’s game, per ESPN.
The viewership numbers signal increased interest in the defacto Black College National Championship Game and in HBCU football on a national scale.
