Breaking Down SWAC Football Teams’ Wins and Losses (2012-2015)

Strange things happen when you start digging into the past of college football teams.

For instance, a series of questions arose during the creation of our National Signing Day retrospectives for the Division I HBCU football programs. Those questions included:

  • How good were the teams?
  • Who did the teams play in nonconference?
  • How did the teams do in conference play?

Well, you’re in luck. We crunched the numbers from the last four seasons — 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 — to break down the wins and losses of the D-I HBCU football programs. We begin this series with the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The team’s overall record, along with conference record, record at home, record on the road and neutral site games are listed. Nonconference games are broken down by level of opponents:

  • “Power 5” Football Bowl Subdivision: members of ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pacific 12 and Southeastern conferences
  • “Group of 5” Football Bowl Subdivision: members of American, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt conferences
  • Football Championship Subdivision: members of Big Sky, Big South, Colonial Athletic Association, Ivy League, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot League, Pioneer League, Southern and Southland conferences
  • Division 2 and below: opponents playing in Division II, Division III, NAIA or United States Collegiate Athletic Association

If you’re in the mood to be surprised (or disappointed), then check out our SWAC team-by-team breakdown.
