Clinton, Miss.– Grambling State claimed the SWAC Women’s Cross Country Championship titles at the Choctaw Trails on Sunday. Individually, Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Karla Atencio was the top women’s finisher, posting a time of 18:39.05.

Nine points separated the top three teams in the women’s race. Grambling State had four runners in the top 10 and collected 51 points. Arkansas-Pine Buff had 54 points to place second. Alabama State took third in the standings with 60 points.

The top three runners were from different teams with Atencio leading the way. Mississippi Valley State’s Joyce Chumo was second with a time of 19:04.50, and Grambling State’s Ameesha Washington was third, posting a time of 19:08.61.
