Five months after his unfortunate injury at the HBCU Legacy Bowl, former North Carolina Central quarterback Davius Richard has finally found his way onto a pro roster.
First reported by Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends, Richard is on his way to the United Football League after signing with the Houston Roughnecks.
During the opening drive of the HBCU Legacy Bowl, Richard led his team down the field on the opening drive, scoring on a designed quarterback run.
On that run play, the Eagles quarterback suffered an apparent leg injury, which forced him to be carted off the field and miss the remainder of the game.
Despite garnering interest from numerous NFL teams in the wake of his injury, Richard went unsigned after going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
He enters the pros following a storied college career in which he won an HBCU national championship, two MEAC Player of the Year awards, and the Deacon Jones Trophy in his final season.
