Prairie View A&M put up a valiant effort coming back from a double-digit TSU lead in the second half. The Panthers cut the Tigers lead down to two points with under one minute left to play.
Prairie View A&M had an opportunity to tie the game or take the lead before an offensive foul was called on PVAMU’s Derek Johnson. The foul gave Texas Southern possession of the ball and shifted the momentum in the Tigers direction.
TSU subsequently converted several key free throws down the stretch sealing the game in Texas Southern’s favor.
Derek Johnson led all Panther scorers with 15 points and five rebounds. Brian Ezeh and Jacolby Satterwhite tallied 14 and 12 points respectively.
