WHO DAT Nation: Saints Release Lance Moore

Well you know I have been fussing about Graham’s contract talks since last year. I’m still worried about RT and C, but the Saints have proven they can find a star on the O-line even in the SWAC. So, the way this is starting to shape up Graham’s contract is not looking to be an issue since they signed Bird. The Saints put a non-exclusive franchise tag on Graham. Another team can sign Graham if they are willing to give him top dollar plus give up two number 1s and a number 2 with the Saints having the opportunity to match. If another team doesn’t offer him a contract, we can kind of give him what we want in 2015, especially if we don’t make a nice run in 2014. Graham has to put up big numbers again in 2014 to have a shot at being the highest paid TE in 2015. But me personally, I rather have the two first round draft choices. Atlanta has an opening at TE now. Are they willing to give up $12 million a year to Graham plus two number 1s? You guys did give up 5 picks for Julio Jones who never put on a NFL uniform. I know you know the consequences of over-paying players with Atlanta’s track record. Maybe Lance Moore can get his money from Atlanta like Steven Jackson did.

Well Bigs, we don't need a TE. We're trying to solidify our lines (OL & DL) like you all should be trying to do.

Darren Sproles’ Wife Says Her God Will Punish The Saints

On Tuesday, running back Darren Sproles learned through Twitter that the Saints were attempting to trade him. Not the best way to figure out your team's trying to ship you out. His wife Michel publicly vented a little more than him, using one long-ass Instagram comment.

Sure, Michel understands it's a business, but at the same time, she mad.

So she calls folks MFers etc...then turns around and says "Praise God"...

:shame:

I understand where she is coming from because I never liked the way that some people learn about their job in professional sports. This takes away from it being a job and you are viewed as property. It's like being fired from a job on twitter and you come to work unaware of the situation.

I learned a long time ago when money is concerned there is no such thing as "My word is my bond."

You know the old saying “In God we trust, but everybody else pays CASH.â€￾ :) But seriously, it’s hard for me to feel sorry for Sproles since he’s going to the Eagles. He is going to a play-off contender with a wide open offense catered to his game. His wife must really like the beignets at Café du Monde. :)

Let me let you read what the Buffalo fans are saying:

“Amazing other teams can pull this off and our office cant. NO may have screwed their cap space down the road, but at least they have the balls to make moves and continue to be a contender. This office has the balls to sign cheap backup players and continue on generating 6-10 seasons.â€￾

This is from one fan looking at the same information:

“In other words, this contract is slightly front-loaded in terms of cash. Byrd will receive more than half his cash, $27.9 million, 51.6%. in the first three years, and only $26.1 mill, 48.4%, in the last three years.

In other words, they don't expect to cut him before the last three years. If they didn't think he was worth $26.1 mill over three years at the back (in a cap environment that will have a lot more money available), they wouldn't have given him $27.9 in the first three years (in the current less generous cap environment). It's not the kind of contract Nate Clements signed where his last two years with the Niners, he was due a total of $24 million. Outside of going heavy that first year, every other year is less than the yearly average of the contract. Pretty evenly loaded, in other words.

However, if his level of play falls, then yeah, they're not in a bad position to cut him after those first three years or four or five.

Smart contract. One that he stands a good chance of playing out, but not so punishing for the Saints that if he starts aging early or gets injured that they're forced to keep him.

And as the cap rises to $150 mill over the next couple of years, it will seem less and less high as contract values rise. Great contract for both parties.

We should have signed him to it, or something similar, frankly.

The original reports exaggerated the guarantee, though. Only $20.3 mill is fully guaranteed.â€￾
