GOAT FARM!
Re: JSU seeks FBS Opponent for 2011 or FAMU
You didn't read my post and take it in.
Let me clear up what I was saying.
I said IF WE PLAY A FBS, I would rather play one close to home. If not an in-state game like USM or Mississippi State simply because of in-state fan interest, then we should stick to teams like Ull, Lou Tech, lou-Monroe, Troy, or UAB. I forgot about Memphis. I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF TRAVELING ALL THE WAY TO OREGON TO GET THE HELL BEAT OUT OF US AT OREGON STATE IN FRONT OF 80,000 BEAVER FANS. WHATS THE POINT?
I have no interest in seeing JSU get games playing a team like Florida, Bamma, or Auburn for example, just to get skull drug in the name of "we played them." Playing Mississippi State and USM is getting scary these days.
A team like ULL or TROY is a "winnable" game if our teams are good and play a good game. Location wise they, along with the other teams I listed, they are close, our fans can travel to the game, and the cost is no more than a regular SWAC trip and we still get a check. Our teams have problems beating middle of the pack D2 teams. Why in the hell should we schedule the true powerhouses of the NCAA world for a damm check and a busted skull.
Like you, I would rather bring in UNA, Delta State, Tuskeege, or any GSC team on the D2 level and on the FCS level FAMU, or one of the Louisana FCS teams for a opening date with the FCS teams getting a home and home contract. Damm traveling all across the continent to get our skulls caved in when we got 20 schools on our level or just above our level withing a 400 mile radius.
GR was joking (I hope)
I don't agree with playing these 1-A teams but if they make ya'll hard....oh well. I would rather just bring Delta State or Albany State to Jackson. If not that, we have room for a home-home with a 1-AA opponent since we can play 12 games next year.
