Surely, you're not comparing baseball in the SEC (even in its earlier stages) to SWAC baseball...umm, ummm don't do it, bruh! :smh: I KNOW you're smarter than that!

And even with that, the SEC wasn't struggling financially, so they (or rather their member schools) had money to establish their programs. Don't EVER compare the SWAC to any of the major D-1 conferences sports programs...not even checkers!

I feel ya, but that's not what i got outta that comment when I read it. IMO, he meant the totality of the situation, not just the gunfire. I could be wrong, and I do see how it could be interpreted as such.

Don't you know that the Alabama schools will be held to a different litmus test. See, when the tournament is in Birmingham, we should be expected to bring every person with a blackface out to the games. However, when it's in Houston (the 4th largest city in the nation, with a whole lot more dayumed black folks than Bham) 483 will suffice. That's basically what NT is telling us.

See, with this kinda of logic, it's obvious why yaw can't get a professional team. USFL don't count!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the area won't support it. Why b@tch about it being moved to another city. It won't be missed by the locals.
 
And I agree with D....

If we are gonna put nothing into the tourney, why even have it? May as well just let the East leader play the West leader at the home field of the team with the best record, and decide it like that.
 
Nah AA, just using them as an example as to what can happen if you invest in it. If there's any conference that's a football first conference it's the SEC. Prior to 1980 the SEC didn't even care for basketball either, it was only Kentucky that took the sport seriously, but they invested, and the conference is thriving, in both sports now.

I just look at the comments on the board in regards to baseball, and see how little folk in the conference care for it, when it seems like MLB is really paying attention to the SWAC brand of baseball. Unlike football, the baseball scouts are actually making good on their visits. If they were all being drafted in the 88th round that's one thing, but a number of HBCU'ers are going pretty high in the MLB draft, and not just from Southern, but from a number of schools, and that's what I'm getting at in regards to the SWAC Office in handling the sport.

These kids deserve marketing now, and it's a good sell. Our fans shouldn't have to wait until a kid hit's the big leagues before they know they came from the SWAC.

Great point...How many SWAC players were drafted by the NFL last year? The NBA? MLB?

There are two colleges here that average around 90,000 a game whats makes u think a team wouldnt be supported...Every pro football team Birmingham has had has led its conference in attenedence. From the USFL to the World League. You are basing this off of a BASEBALL tournament???

Don't let the shooting at Rickwood Field Sunday night, give you a bad impression of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Yes, the SWAC Baseball Championship game was going on inside Rickwood Field, but the shooting happened outside. It was local people, not from Southern University or Prairie View A&M. It didn't happen because of security issues with the SWAC or anything like that. The folks at the SWAC are working long hours trying to give these historically black colleges the same experiences that the SEC, Big 10, Pac 10 and ACC get. A Championship Atmosphere in big time venues. This was a "black eye" for Birmingham, not the SWAC. Just like Legion Field's upper deck being condemned was a "black eye" for Birmingham. The once self proclaimed "Football Capital of the South" is dying on the sports vine. Soon, the SWAC will experience something just like the SEC, they'll move all their major championship events to another city.

Move all this ish to Texas..... wonder why NOBODY commented last year on the attendence in Houston when a HOMETOWN team was in the championship....

probably because NOBODY GAVE A DAMN.... ITS BASEBALL.

PV folks aint commented on a baseball thread until last year... when you aint use to winning NOTHING u jump on the bandwagon of any sport who starts winning ..... same thing happenned when they won the basketball regular season title.... Didnt see too much about PV basketball the last two years on here. BANDWAGON fans.

Outside of SU, NOBODY in the SWAC had a baseball team worth mentioning until a few years ago. Save that bandwagon crap until you make it past Mississippi for a SWAC sports event.

All that he said is true. And when the SWAC gets some money (just like the SEC) it will be able to move its championship games to any city it wants to.

SMH... funny coming from you...when have you made it out of Texas besides band lol.... and last time I checked Louisiana was past Mississippi... you dont even want to go there.... I would BET you I have been to more NON AAMU SWAC events than you have been to none PV SWAC events... and Texas SO next door doesnt count... closest SWAC school to AAMU is Bama State and that is 3 hours away...
