LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When i made this thread about Swac football is boring, and it hasnt been the same since 99, or better yet 2001. I got roasted. Swac football has gotten worse. I guess looking at the SGC this past year made everyone realize that. Terrible QBs, Oline terrible, Bad officiating, Poor Coaching, Lack of Fan support.

Since 1999, JSU has been twice, you went four and AAMU has been five. We have been the most thank you. Yall are second. AAMU is your daddy. Don't forget it.

So do you think the SWAC Championship teams of 2005-2010, were equal in talent to the SWAC championship teams of the 70's, 80's and 90's?

Pop, you asking dumb questions now. What 1-AA team is equivalent to those teams. I bet App State had teams in the 90's that went unnoticed that would beat the crap outta the teams they field now. Talent dilution is across the board. Program stability is down across the board.

We have some 1-AA conferences rated higher than 1-A conferences. This is why when we had the 7 game format, we should have been trying to schedule good 1-AA competition. Instead, we ran to money games. ..

...and as we see, the playoffs didn't do anything for the MEAC. The SCG is 11 years old and they are STILL trying to win a playoff game. Not only are we rated higher than them but MUCH higher! We are basically tied for #23. We won't improve as a converence until Valley offers 20 more scholarships and we go back to the 7-game format and schedule appropriately. I will say this tho... outside of JSU and Grambling, the rest of the SWAC was no better than Grambling 20 years ago. So let's stop trying to reinvent history.

I agree but if this is true, how can you say SWAC football has improved.

What's the most frustrating in watching SWAC football is the LITTLE THINGS. BASIC FUNDAMENTALS, seem to just not be taught. You go out on Saturday and see teams that look like they've never seen a blitz before, when you can CLEARLY see a team has a tendency to heavily blitz. When you see stuff like that, it makes you wonder what have they been doing the whole week in preparation?

We can talk about program stability, coaching, the Internet, the officials, the schedule or the commissioner all day long for the next 25 years. It comes down to talent. Players. That is why SWAC football and HBCU athletics have declined over the years. HBCUs don't get the same caliber of athletes as a whole like back in the day. A cat like Steve McNair is never going to play for a SWAC school again unless there is a drastic cultural change within the black community.

Folks bragging about how much better we are than the MEAC. Why? The SWAC is still near the bottom when it comes to conference strength because schools don't beat anyone out the league on a regular basis.

Man yall kill me with that mess. App St got beat to sleep by Villinov who wasn't even ranked.
So what SWAC team do you think can be Villinova, App State, Montana, Ga Southern, New Hampature, or Dalware?
My Statement said can any current SWAC team beat any current top tier FCS team, what you stated has Sh*t to do with nothing. unles Villinova joined the SWAC in I didnt know it. the FCS is our measuring stick, except it.

and Uconn who tsu was killed for loosing to by such a large margin won thier conference and has an automatic bid into a BCS Bowl game. Some of you on hear need to say this stuff out loud b4 you post it.

Gram and tsu had solid teams this year, easy to see why they ran through the conference and I witnessed some great ball games this year. I guess it could be that the rest of you were down this year but GSU and TSU were solid. I guess that explains thier records.
Your Comment has nothing to do with the SWAC compared to the rest of the FCS, which is our measuring stick. Uconn is in FBS, big EAST, we cant compare ourselves to them....
I dont think some on this board understand that we compete in the FCS, so our programs compare to the FCS programs not the FBS or DII. if we use where we was in the past against FCS compared to now, its safe to say we are down..
SU use to Handle northwestern, Grambling Beat Portland State, Nichols, FAMU; Alcorn use to handle Samford and other GSC schools but now we just dont compete well out side the SWAC.

I know you think PWC's are right, but they can be beat anyday just like the SWAC can. The game is played on the field. You and others have said that the SWAC couldn't beat the top DII team, well JSU beat they azz, so now yall saying we can't beat any other FCS team. It will never end my friend.

Since 2002 the SWAC has won 12 games against non-conference foes (who were not HBCUs or DII schools). Of the 12 wins seven were against Tennessee State. So that might explain why the league wants the Tigers program to join the conference.

ARE YOU SERIOUS......the FCS is the division that we play in, its not Black or white but competing on our level. Yea they can be beat, Grambling has proved it Many times before but in the year of 2010 I dont believe that we have a team that can compete in the top and elite FCS.
I have never said that a SWAC team couldnt beat a DII team, hell we should be blowing them out, we have more scholarships, more resources and we are DI, why should we be jumping up for joy about JSU beating a team they should beat?
Our OOC records against them, including Grambling says we are not competing well against FCS schools outside the SWAC.
Cee Dog im sorry but I dont think that you understand that we are a division 1 conference that competes at the FCS level their for our record against our peers determine the ranking, sucess of our programs. Its not a Black or White thing, in at a time we competed well against our peers... Grambling, Southern, Alabama State, Alcorn and Jackson State all have went outside of our Conference in knocked off good FCS OOC foes, but in the last 10 its getting less and less frequent.
this is what determines if we are getting better because they are our peers..

You can just gone throw in FCS HBCU also cause we havent been doing to hot against them either. Grambling beat BCC in 04 when they were down, we lost to Hampton and SC state when both of there programs where up, but we have been in the top of the SWAC every year accept in 06.

No one is saying that... :lecture:

However, it's unfair to make the comparisons you are trying to make. Has ANY 1-AA conference improved is the real question?

I think everyone want to Compare us with FBS schools to determine if we have gotten better, you cant do that because we are not FBS. I think all these money games have fooled us. Our improvement is based on how we compare with other 1-AA schools
