That is a very poor measuring stick. How many kids from ANY 1-AA programs go to the next level. And ONE good player does not make a team. UAPB was putting more in the NFL than any of us a few years ago but they still were getting beat by us.
The Measuring Stick is How we compare to the rest of the FCS(1-AA), and right now I dont see our teams able to compete with the top tier FCS schools.

Bama State has nothing to be ashamed of...-Since its inception in 1999, ASU has been in (4) SCG's. Whether we won (1) out of (4) SCG's or whatever, we have been there more than any team in the SWAC other than GSU. AAMU has also probably been there (3-4) times. It shouldn't be to much of an argument. The SU team of 2003 was a good team and so was the 2004 team as far as I'm concerned. The Bama State 2004 SCG team was a good team and proved it on the field. There's more parity in the SWAC, but the talent isn't showing up in the NFL like in the past. I don't know what happened to this years JSU team other than some offensive blocking flaws for their QB. The Braves looked like they wanted it in the beginning, but they appear to drop off by seasons end every year. Since JC Cole has been at TSU, there's no telling what the SWAC-West will look like next year unless their DC is gone. If they have a decent QB next year and JC continues to work with Smalls, you can pretty much bet they will be right back in the SCG. The SWAC-East will probably be a toss-up between Bama State JSU and AAMU if AAMU can get them a top-notched QB. Bama State's almost entire team will be returning next year, but we also need that top-notched QB. Every team in the SWAC had weaknesses and each one of you know what your teams weaknesses were--SU for some reason or another finds QB's to get the job done regardless of this years results. They have been competitive over the years and every year they play Bama State, it's usually my SWAC game of the year. I've been to every game played in Baton Rouge since the rivalry started and for some reason I missed this years game. That 2004 years regular season game and the SCG game was two of the best I've witnessed and also the game against JSU in 2001 played @ JSU where ASU won 61-58 if I'm not mistaking. Don't count Bama State out of nothing, because we've had (4) years to prove we've beat teams to earn those (4) SCG games.
Since 1999, JSU has been twice, you went four and AAMU has been five. We have been the most thank you. Yall are second. AAMU is your daddy. Don't forget it.
Lets tell the whole truth sfa. You have a lot of SWAC "ppl," can't call them fans because MOST real fans are knowledgeable of the game they view and these dummies around these parts aren't too intelligent, who are just straight up coons w/ their thought process. Yes, I'm talking directly to you.
They don't understand the game beyond the game, IMO. For instance, they'd rather see a high-scoring 48-42 football game w/ zero defense lol vs a slugfest defensive battle coupled w/ field position battles and coaching decisions that will ultimately dictate the outcome of the game. Or, even in basketball, they'd get up out of their seat and swear it was the second coming of Jesus for a THUNDEROUS dunk by their squad while their squad shoots 27% from the charity stripe  and 11% from 3-point land :emlaugh: in a losing effort. Just a bunch of dumb coons, IMO. And yes, I'm speaking directly to YOU, dummy(plural because there are plenty outside of the great state of Texas :wavey: lol).
Congrats on the football championship TSU. Y'all kicked the living shit out of every team y'all beat.
I do agree with your keypoint however. DISCIPLINE, DISCIPLINE, DISCIPLINE! It seperates the winners from pretenders..
The following stats may explain why TxSU and Bama State played in the 2010 SCG.

Well CEE, that gives the teams from Bama (9) SCG's since 1999. That ain't to bad-9 out of 11 years.
If SWAC schools are not beating anyone outside of the league on a regular basis, then obviously the level of football is not up to par comparatively.
Bruh, the Bama state team of 2004 would have ran the 2010 team off the field.
Reggie Benson obviously didn't watch the last scg. That was a horrible shameful display of football from both teams. Benson must have been bored when he wrote this
That maybe so. Our 1992 team would have beaten our 2004 team by 3 TDs. I'm telling you why the two teams played in this year's championship game. TXSU won the SCG because of their defense and Bama State represented the East Divison because of their defense.
Man yall kill me with that mess. App St got beat to sleep by Villinov who wasn't even ranked.

***Summation-Indicators suggest that the league is walking a tight rope for this decade. Two former powerhouses (JSU and S.U.) has taken a fall from grace. Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M has emerged but hasn't established consistency. Hence, the verdict is still out on these two programs. Grambling State and Alabama A&M are the most stable programs with Grambling State being the front runner. Bama State program though showing an increase over the last twenty years is not as stable as the two aforementioned)*****

and Uconn who tsu was killed for loosing to by such a large margin won thier conference and has an automatic bid into a BCS Bowl game. Some of you on hear need to say this stuff out loud b4 you post it.
Gram and tsu had solid teams this year, easy to see why they ran through the conference and I witnessed some great ball games this year. I guess it could be that the rest of you were down this year but GSU and TSU were solid. I guess that explains thier records.
