SWAC 2013 Football Predictions

How JSU people talk, you would think they dominate in all sports, etc. They would fool someone who didn't know any better.

No it would not have. A budget is simply how much a school wants to to spend or how much it HAS to spend. Well know GSU didn't have 5 million to spend so if they pass the measure on student fees, the budget will probably stay the same. Some of it will just be coming from somewhere else. JSU should have the lowest budget in the SWAC since we have the shortest distance to travel.

These aren't projected budgets they are final numbers. And, all of our schools received state aid to meet expenses. TP, you can't tell me too much about budgets. I've developed and managed department budgets over the years.

The thing about them, is they shoot their mouths off without knowing facts. When facts are presented, they get belligerent and abrasive. Anyone's program that has been in the NCAA for 34 years and haven't won a playoff baseball game, a NCAA big dance tourney game, and have an 0-13 FCS playoff record and can't win a SWAC/MEAC challenge to save their life and has 1 championship in football in 16 years shouldn't be running down and suggesting any school goes D-2. Then you suggest for a school that leads you in football 40-22 series wise and just lambasted and outright outclass and embarrass you over the years to boot move to another level? It just doesn't make any sense to me but I'll leave it alone.

Thanks for that bit of info JR. I was looking at the stats published by USA Today and based on those stats, it showed Grambling as being more responsible financially.
Seems to me that they were doing more with less and they didn't have to cut athletic programs in the process and broke out even. I could be wrong though.
They also didn't put more of a burden on students in balancing their athletic budget like certain schools. Some schools supported athletics primarily off the backs of the student body. Grambling didn't do that.

As far as Jindal's concerned, he has su cutting programs left and right, so it's obvious he'd agree with that, so that's nothing to write home about. Again, thanks for your input.

From looking at the numbers below, can anyone tell me which SWAC school burden their students the most to support their athletic programs from 2005 to 2012?

Hint: The amount of burden they placed on their students to support their athletic programs from 2005 to 2012 was slightly over $20 million.

Also, USA Today didn't report Alcorn's finances for 2005.

I do believe he really doesn't understand the difference between projected and actual. Also, I do believe I had this discussion before concerning someone’s interpretation of budgets. It really seems like there are some that like to make up crap to satisfy what they think they can get away with, such as, saying that it would cost $200 million for a brand new 50k seat domed stadium, which doesn't seem real to me in today's market. That is just pure bs someone trying to blow up the behinds of taxpayers in Mississippi.

True, and there are too many X factors if you don't have enough data to make a general statement about someone's budget being lower due to travel expenses. For example, Bama State's budget was 6.2 million more than A&M. It's apparent to anyone that knows what they're looking at that there is much more going on there than traveling expenses. Unless you have an itemization of these expenses, you simply don't know the whole reason for the disparity. I would look at that budget and one question that comes to mind is would some of the new stadium expenses be included in Bama State's budget. And that is just a surface observation without doing any in-depth analysis. These programs are not monolithic and have different needs from year to year.

The words "in-depth" and "analysis" are too hard for them comprehend. A much simpler use of terms would have been "a detail examination on how every nickel and dime that was generated and spent". Always remember, you have to explain things in a way that your most simple-minded individual would understand and one particular school definitely seems to have more than its share of simple-minded individuals.

Can we please wait until players show up on campus and we find out who is eligible/not eligible

I agree. The Golden Lions don't report back to campus until August 2nd (I think), so we have to see who's returning and who's in good physical condition. And even then, it's too soon for predictions. I never expect our (UAPB) seasons to be the exact same; I just hope we have a winning season and that my folks stay physically & academically healthy.

But......it would be nice if we had a repeat 10-2 season or better.:)

Instead of sticking to the subject at hand, sounds like two folks are trying to convince themselves that they're not wrong.
Perhaps it's because they're not interested in the standings knowing full well their school will not finish first in their division no matter how much they talk about standings.
PB will dominate the West with ease, unless PV gets in the way.

Why are we discussing budgets?
The thread started regarding the preseason predictions for football.
If JSU had the largest atheletic budget and Bell was the coach everyone knows what the results would be, and the same applies for SU and Stump was the coach.
The question is simple, based on what we know, what will be the outcome in the SWAC.

Ask Moe (Jag89), Larry (Jrock), and Curly (SUtillhedead).

This is part of the stupidity and jackassery that I referred to earlier. You have a grown man on a sports page name calling.

Yes........get off topic by throwing a bunch of b.s. into a thread and F'up a good sports related conversation. Who comes in a thread ranting and raving about closing it also? What the hell does Grambling going D-2 have to do with predictions? If one doesn't feel like discussing SWAC predictions simply go to another thread.

Remember when SU used to start all the baseball threads and bamastate would start all the basketball threads? Those were the days. We won't have to see that mess for a while.

Wait....remember when MikeBigg would post all those articles about those losers at Grambling? Wheeeeew...I'm so glad that's over

Your thread was railroaded in post #12.

That's how they were raised. They result to name calling when their tomfoolery is exposed. IMO, a certain school in Mississippi was the worst thing that could have happen to the SWAC in 1958.

lol........You have ignorant folks constantly trying to run down other institutions and have no idea what is going on in their own back yard. :emlaugh: Some people believe this is a forum to run down other schools. When facts are presented they tend to get abrasive and belligerent. This thread was supposed to be about predictions. It is difficult to circumvent the tomfoolery short of not reading the thread. :smh:  :emlaugh: It's a disgrace how some folks subject the masses in this forum with ignorant agendas.....

As you can see above, I saw that ignorance coming from a mile away.....

bama state lost a freshman wr signee to the mlb draft. said he's taking the money.

And there are some Hornets recruits that want meet academic requirements. However, most of our Feb signees are in summer school going through workouts. They are an impressive group. Most will redshirt.

Barlow has the talent. What he does with it remains to be seen

I don't understand why folks are discouraging preseason prognosticating. Thats the beauty of football. Why can't we guess what our teams are going to do on what we know now? People are going to say stupid stuff but that ain't nothing new.

Barlow made a biiiiig mistake hiring Ramsey. Bamastate would've been in a better position had you kept your last DC. You hired a guy JSU scored 103 points on in the last 2 years ...not a good move
