I just think we're missing some opportunities to make more money and get more exposure for the schools. To get there may require some changes, but we have to be open to change. Change is constant. Nothing grows without change. Why not shape and direct the change for our benefit?

But truth be told, those games never was televised though...well if you count BET but that's our own...but I agree what you're stating that money is too be made...I been layed out my plan on how SU can make more money than what they are making now...I can see some points that are being taken....especially with that GAMEDAY setup they had for H.C. with the whole bar/setup out in the parking lot.. that was awesome...but that just a baby step to what these other schools are doing that's generating money for them...

Do you agree that the SWAC has a niche that people would want to see? Even people who may not have attended a HBCU and who may not be Black? If you do, then you have to admit that the SWAC hasn't fully exploited that market. I believe there's more money to be made for SU and the SWAC as a whole. Much more money.

But, y'all have to open your minds to see the possibilities.

True we probably haven't fully exploited the market, but that niche market is most likely why we have games (FB, BB, Bowling, VB, etc) on ESPN networks and no other FCS conference does (NCAA controls playoffs).

what? yall haven't been doing any work. The best thing Alcorn could do for that game was take it back to our home and spark some kind of interest. We provided a festive atmosphere never seen before between the two schools...this year it was a typical Jackson trip. The game & then nothing...you all just don't have any vision.

It will be something that might happen. Especially if the SCG is scrapped. We will see. Change is inevitable. Might not be in the next 5 years. But who knows what happens in 10-20 years. College football is about to go through a radical change in my opinion across the board in the next decade.

Ive been saying that for a while since the SEC decided to schedule LSU vs Texas A&M to thanksgiving day starting next year. It wont be long before Tom Benson would like to have an FBS classic like Jerry's World and Relient stadium has in the Superdome.

I think the Bayou Classic does need to stay with SU vs GSU. It wouldn't be right without the two of them. The classic rivalry is just going through a phase right now, but it will rebound in due season. Sometimes you will have to get creative and shake things up to rejuvenate interests, but SU vs GSU will be ok. Rotating between different cities in the state is probably not a bad idea for now. Fortunately, Louisiana has enough large cities to support these types of rotations for black college football crowd attractions of 30-40K and up. Mississippi does not and will never have that luxury. Biloxi would have been ideal for Alcorn vs Jackson, but the arena isn't designed for football. Maximum capacity is 15,000. Oh well, that's an entire different thread. But I wish you all the best…and hope things turn around in the bayou.

I see the Bayou Classic being moved to the Saturday before Thanksgiving and the SCG betting scrapped within five years. I also see the SWAC membership changing in 5-10 years.

Those things will only change if the landscape of college football changes. With the crowd JSU and SU are expecting, the SCG is not going anywhere soon.. esp not for the playoffs.

I see college football continue to change as the power conferences grab more power and conference realignment trickles down to FCS. Now about the SCG, we know this year's game has a realistic shot at eclipsing the 1999 inaugural game. However, after the novelty of this year and the 2014 SCG wears off, will Houston at large support the SCG? That's the question right there.

Also, as the college football landscape changes, can the SWAC aggressively address revenue streams and other propositions that can put its members in a better position financially? Can the SWAC properly make adjustments (revenue streams, address membership, etc.) that will benefit membership in the short and long term.

Also, each individual member has to assess whether SWAC membership is best for them.

When it first got started, it was mainly a Louisiana Family Affair of Black families that had ties to Southern and Grambling, which was like 90 to 95% of the Black families in Louisiana.

I was at the first one. Tulane Stadium was full. (The lone White guy that I saw sat behind us, and he was for Southern.) I am glad that I went.

JSU really don't care about the game anymore, move the game to September and let Alcornites cry wolf!

And ULL has agreed to play in it again for the third year in a row. If they keep this up, they can rename it to the ULL Bowl.

If they can pay that bowl for those few people, they damn sure could give the BC something for bringing 200,000 people to the city.

MOST of the economic impact goes to the restaurants and hotels. How much of that $50M did the actual city get (from taxes). That's the question.

We do care about the game but without a promoter, it's just a regular game and Alcorn has a tiny fan base that is scared of the big city. That does not help us out.

I don't believe that either. I hate to say it but that might be about 7 to 10% of N.O. cash reserves. And that is probably a ridiculously generous guess.

And that's the problem… You're running behind Southern for their approval, but they are looking at you like you don't even count. Go ahead and move the Alcorn game to September. It'll only get worse for you in Jackson, yet a constant success in Lorman.

What big city? Are you talking about Jackson? That's not a big city. Tiny fan base? Was it just JSU in the stadium all these years? Have you been attending the games? You can help yourselves by promoting the game yourselves. That's what we did, and it turned out amazing last year.

Yea that number is high. But I vividly remember back when Slaughter was over the BC he was complaining about how much NO gave the New Orleans Bowl.
