SU's Tony Clayton strikes again. Wants Grambling out of the Bayou Classic

Man, SS and GR in here going ham with the truth :lmao:

Pops I was really disappointed with the responses from the SU posters. I was expecting them to drop numbers, facts, etc. as to why TC is wrong simply b/c it (whether the BC is still beneficial) has been discussed on this board so many times. Them fools came back with a link showing TC donated $5,000 to Jindal and gave each other high-fives over that bullshyt information.

Then one of them even admitted the problem wasn't the message...it was the messenger. :noidea:

He's the wrong person to develop this message. Like I said before, TC speaks for the desires of rich White folks. I'm sure you have come across Black people that you thought made some sense at times, but because who they were, you didn't trust what they were doing.

But is the message, itself, wrong? Or is it something worth looking into?

It might be, but TC is still the wrong person to decide what is best for the Black community.

:shame:

Please southsuburbs...

Do you want us to go back through Tony Clayton's greatest hits ... Here's just a few items

1. Hell, over the summer he was questioning our AD about why the board doesn't have more input in football scheduling ( I was at that board meeting and Will was P-I-S-S-E-D)
2. This current foolishness
3. merging SUNO into UNO (Mason did say if anything, move UNO into the SU System)
4. secretly trying to bring in Doug as head coach
5. Orchaestrating (with LaFluer) moving our home games vs. JSU to Jackson for virtually the same attendance we had in Mumford.
6. Taking Grambling out of the UL System and putting it under the SU System

Trust us when we say he is no good. He's an empty oil drum with a piece of cinder block in it. When he moves, you'll hear a lot of noise. When you look inside, there's not much in there when you investigate. On the same token, TCs machinations have done a lot to damage SU athletics in recent years.

But Katrina isn't an excuse. The city has come back to a certain extent and the tourism places are back up and running. It's just the cost of living in NOLA has increased to the point where poorer New Orleanians that left due to the storm cannot afford to live in the city no more. For those that can live in the city, they still are dealing with red tape.

But when it comes to events and what not ... the battle to get that disposable income into NOLA for Thanksgiving weekend have a lot do more with the recession. That's why NOLA Tourism has been super-aggressive in selling shopping and partying down there ... to get the tax revenue.

I understand why some of you Jackson State people like TC ... he helped put money in y'alls pockets.

Man, folks have actually said they are disagreeing with this simply because Tony Clayton brought it up.

Do you really think that makes sense to anyone but those participating in this herd mentality?

So you are saying folks should join the azz kissing herd like TC? Either way, neither herd is thinking outside of the box. It just happen to be that one herd is always coming up with a mouth full of shyt. :emlaugh:

SU is getting a big payday from this game....and the attendance is around 40K and up..(might I add, better than most schools HomeComing attendance)

What other school will bring fans to come close to matching SU fan support for this game in the SWAC or ANYWHERE lol...other than LSU, I'll wait.....for 40 years...GSU has played it's part, and before folks say JSU, again we been down this road...so what other SCHOOL I ask will match SU 90% of the work LOL...I'll wait...THe GET READy dude...or SS...I'll wait

I wish folks from jsu would stop begging to play in the Bayou Classic under the guise of concern. Damn, we don't want you all. You all go and create the Magnolia Classic or something like that. We don't want any scalawag teams in the BAYOU Classic........It is a Louisiana tradition. You folks would have a better chance of trying to replace Army or Navy in their game.........Try that and see how it works out for you. Besides, no one knows who you are and wouldn't want to see you all on national t.v. :emlaugh:

The message itself is wrong. Our financial potential is at its highest playing Grambling in this game.

I don't believe that's true. Even if it is the case right now, that doesn't mean that it will always be the case nor does it mean that there aren't opportunities to make even more money available(with a few changes).

I think if somebody actually did a study of how to make the most money for SU now and in the future - 10, 20 years from now - the best way may not necessarily include keeping the BC as it is today.

I don't want to play in the Bayou Classic and I doubt any other JSU poster/fan/Alumni/Groupie does either.

It's withering away...in about 10 years, it will be no more. :noidea:

Crazy thing is that I actually agree with them that removing gram from the game is a bad idea. I think the SU fans who do come to the game come because they are playing Gram that day. I believe attendance would decline even worse than it has with anyone else. However, I don't think Tony is wrong is raising his point.

Umm, you got a point about Eddie but no one outside of the HBCU world knows who Pete Richardson is.

I'm saying let's look at the actual numbers and plan for a better future. No matter where the idea came from. At least be willing to look for opportunities to improve. :noidea:

Don't you think that's better than assuming those people are wrong and things are already the best it's going to be?

Dang. Can somebody think for themselves and at least take a look at the numbers. Potential opportunities and challenges. You're a smart guy. Is that too hard?

I guess you would rather play in the Southern Heritage Classic that is less popular than the Bayou Classic with way less fan support. Makes plenty of sense to me. :emlaugh:

What are your alternatives for it? You don't think it will be a draw (vs GSU) in years to come, but which opponent would be a better draw? SU-JSU in N.O. never drew more than the 47K the Bayou Classic drew THIS season.

man, believe the hype if you want to. Pete Richardson is no bigger than Big Daddy or any other SWAC coach that came through. Hell, if anything, they would no who Walter Payton was before Pete.

oh shyt

LMAO

I can't even respond back LMAO nga said Big Daddy or any other coach..

real tears LMAO

You should have realized by now that TC definitely can't and doesn't think for himself, which is why I suggested to you to become the main messenger to reform the Bayou Classic.

Of course folks know who Walter Payton is. LOL

But yeah you are right. Pete is no more well known outside of HBCUs and Louisiana than other great SWAC coaches not named Eddie Robinson.

Misery loves company but hell no we don't want you all and never did (please get that in your heads). What would make someone take advice from fans of a program that can't pull but 27K against their in state rival and has never played or have been smart enough to play before the nation on a non cable broadcast against their in state rival is beyond me.
