SU's Tony Clayton strikes again. Wants Grambling out of the Bayou Classic

I love q93 with all my heart that station fostered my love for hip hop but what they are doing to the classic with the Fan Fest is dead wrong.

The fan fest is actually promoted by the Bayou Classic management company. Whoever thought of that needs to be fired. Q93 is only the vehicle for the music. I used to think Q93 was the problem, but in reality they aren't. The only positive is that the vendors are charged for their space around the fan fest.

Who is going to support Jindals puppet?

Jindal ain't even stupid enough to support this bullshat. He knows both schools contribute to this event in their own ways.

To be honest, Grambling's name is as much of a financial draw as SU's fan support. The advertising dollars would be hurt without that name.

I can see Clayton's point of view cause it's just like Alcorn and JSU over the last few years, not counting this year.
The question is, who would he replace Grambling with?

Tell the truth Jay! Alcorn pimps JSU when they play at Lorman, but they don't bring that many fans when the game is played in Jackson.

I used to work fanfest when I worked at q93. Had a blast out there.

I love TonyClayton

Him and SeeingSpots the only jags I like. He bout that bitness. None of that mess a regular jag is talking.

On a sidenote ...Grambling needs to go D2

easy here,

Tony is my boy but he is as crazy as a azz hole when he comes out and says things like that.......HE MAKES BOTH SCHOOLS LOOK BAD.......

That's because ya'll don't have any fans... just like Grambling.

Serious question:

If the attendance used to be 70,000+ and the attendance is now 47,000, where did those additional fans come from? How does the Bayou Classic get them back? I think those are the real questions here.

Say fam....actually he is making himself look bad and everytime he says something like this, you can tell that someone is pulling his strings.

Easy here,

who are we to judge about an opponent in a game that wasn't to be without GSU'S COLLIE NICHOSON creativity and his marketing stratagies. I am a SU supporter but many of us have forgotten that back in 73-74 , THE BAYOU CLASSIC WOULDN'T BE IF IT WASN'T FOR GSU. SU didn't buy in to the idea at first. It took Collie and EDDIE TO PERSUADE SU'S CLark and Hines to move the game to Shreveport and to New Orleans. 40 years later and many folk now gone, we better than the school that created the idea. I remember when GSU would put 50 on easily and win on a constant basis. Now they down and we want to pick and choose who we play in a game that use to benefit both schools handsomely. Yall are too young to remeber and understand that a Classic should be a CLassic. GSU AND SU SHARE ONE THING.....BOTH ARE THE ONLY HBCU'S IN LOUISISANA AND BOTH NEED STUDENTS TO COME ALSO. BOTH NEED FUNDING AS WELL. SO GET OF YOUR HIGH HORSE AND BE THANKFUL THAT THE GAME WAS CREATED WITH US IN MIND. EVERY SCHOOL IN THE SWAC HAS HAD ISSUES OF BUDGETS CUTS AMONG OTHER THINGS.

It's one particular school that loves SU and GSU business, Tony Clayton isn't the only attention wh-re lol. Notice i didn't mention names but everyone knows.

WE ARE IN NO POSITION TO BE POKING FUN AT GSU MONEY PROBLEMS .....U REMEMBER , SU WOULD BE GSU QUEEN FOR EVERY BC IN THE 70'S AND 80'S........NOW WE WINNING AND WE TALKING SHIT......COME ON MAN......GSU AINT THE PROBLEM. .....MANY OF THE OLD GUARD HAS PAST ON AND MANY NEW FOLKS DONT COME OR DONT KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE GAME. THE SCHOOLS NEED TO SIT DOWN AND RE THINK AS A WHOLE HOW TO GET THEIR ALUMNI PLUS YOUNGER STUDENT TO GET INVOLVED IN THE GAME.........ECOM=NOMICS HAS ALOT TO DO WITH IT AS WELL........TIME HAVE CHANGED ....WE MUST DO THE SAME...

Correction....SU and GSU are the only two PUBLIC HBCU's in Louisiana. You can't disregard Dillard and Xavier.

I'm not sure which school you are referring to. Please enlighten me on that particular school.

.. TC always looking for 5mins of fame!

Remember last year he said grambling needs to be in SU system instead of UL's. Now he wants to drop them from the classic! LOL & smh...

Next I see TC at the hill...I'm going to shake his hand and buy him a drink.

Ton Clayton is not great. Anyone who supports Bobby Jindal and his education cuts is a damn fool.

Also, TC has financially supported Bobby Jindal too. Go look at the campaign finance reports. That's all you need to know.

So giving the man who is trying to kill our schools money for his campaign ... trifling as hell.

Exactly. Yet, this is why I shake my head at some of these comments supporting Tony Clayton. I further don't understand why he is on the SU Board. Tony Clayton would jump for joy if GSU was closed.

I think the BC used to draw thousands of fans from around the country who aren't affiliated with either school because it was an "event" like Essence is an event. I'm not sure how or if the BC can get those fans back. Now it seems as if the game is only important to those with ties to each school.

When it first got started, it was mainly a Louisiana Family Affair of Black families that had ties to Southern and Grambling, which was like 90 to 95% of the Black families in Louisiana.

The Bayou Classic is for Southern U and Grambling State......

Tuck Fony Clayton! :emlaugh:

When Grambling come back up (and they will) and S.U. put an even better product on the field 70,000 behinds will be back in the seats. Both programs have some work to do. Louisiana football fans are astute. You have to give them show on the field and that's why we both need to get to work.

Very true....we have to develop plans to get the students involved. I know GSU offered a trip to NOLA for $200 and did not advertise it until about 2 weeks before the classic. I think our schools wait too long to inform our students of things. As soon as we know the dates we should come up with student prices. The Bayou Classic provides the most exposure for GSU and with that the administrators have to take notice...last minute *hit will not work.
