Recruit a 4 or 5 star player

What would be your pitch if you were on a HBCU staff and given the opportunity to bring in a major 4 or 5 star recruit

(Topic taken from another site)

Because the best players ain't going to HBCU's. We gotta stop perpetuating this myth that these PWI's and their great facilities and great staffs are making these players. They're talented when they show up on campus. There may be growing pains initially, but the shift really wouldn't take that long. And it would be a marked shift.

Let's give our HBCU staff some points they can take with them when approaching these kids..It's time (if this isn't the right time) to start this shift..

Shit is sad to see our talent being milk'd at these racist ass schools that we all know can't stand black ppl period..

It's beyond my level of comprehension why these selfish kids think and do the way they do. I think it requires some semblance of higher intelligence to understand and accept the game that's occurring about them for their physical prowess. Obviously, not too many are aware and even more sad than that, there are those who know and STILL continue to contribute to this miserably bad situation. They simply do not care [selfish]. They do not possess the required intelligence and pride to care.

Chancellor: CU’s black athletes say they’re part of “The Plantation”

Read the story here-> http://www.denverpost.com/2016/07/14/university-colorado-black-athletes-plantation/

That article simply hits me a certain way especially when I saw one of their players and how he's been brainwashed into thinking that the school is "cool - home away from home - my familiar home folks I played ball w/ [white, btw lol]." I tried to inform him but he wasn't hearing it.

Man I went to LSU 7 on 7 camp and was watching Landry Walker (who by the way is loaded, and their QB is a beast) and I was watching them play against that QB from ST.James that committed to LSU and I was also watching Cam (the LSU OC) and I was like what if that kid from ST James was to be put in a Germany Offense or a PV offense...it will get ugly...
Why we couldn't get these kids into our schools...I'm looking like CAM (the LSU OC) is pure ass..he's no better than the OC in the SWAC in my opinion..what the hell he's sitting up against the goal post as if he's some hellva offensive guru..Like our kids are really that brain-washed

It's EASY to look like a genius when you have the best of the best of the best performing @ a high level for you. Those fbs-fcs pwcu coaches are NO better than any of our coaches, imho. It's EASY as shit to teach a naturally born thoroughbred to run in the kentucky derby than to teach a naturally born mule to run in that exact same race. Feel me?

At 17, I knew there was something wrong when I, along w/ several others, sought to identify w/ white coaches saying that ridiculous shit of "you're like a son to me," "you're like the son I never had," "you're my son from another mother," or "I need you" w/ that silly fake smirk on their face. What they were after were Ws to preserve their standard of living/job security and would say anything to keep the black thoroughbreds working for them, for free. :read: If a young black faced kid is identifying w/ a white male instead of YOU possessing the same kind of black face, there's something HORRIBLY wrong occurring w/in that black kid, imho. They have been programmed and somehow, we've got to break through and deprogram and then reprogram them intelligently.

That's how you have to come and go at these black kids..

1. It's only 11 schools ppl wanna see..and once we get more recruits going to other HBCU then those 11 will choke to death and the ads and sponsors will come to us

2. HBCU school get more exposure than most of these PWI schools

3. HBCU will look out for you after you finish your career in football more so than what those white and black folks who cheer for you at these PWI would do

4. PWI, most, if not all are a bunch of racist as folks, if you don't believe, ask them how often they interact with black ppl, I'll just start there... ask them do they speak about the injustice done to black ppl or they remain silent or better yet, tell you to shut up when you speak out and just play football or basketball

5. PWI facilities came off of the blood and sweat of black players, just like slavery..why not help build your own community, those ppl will support you after Senior night, after that once you are pulled over, you are no longer Ray Ray in the eyes of these white cops, you don't get that pass no more as you prolly would have gotten if you were still playing a down there. You're black ass Ray Ray now..

6. The NFL/NBA isn't going anywhere, just because you are playing at a HBCU, as long as you put up the numbers..you will be going to the NFL/NBA, especially since you've already been tagged/branded as a 4 or 5 star player. We will put your jersey in stores/bookstores/around the campus and city, your exposure will be good still, your jersey is selling out in the arena still, we got posters of you and the team success around the community/city. The team has been on TV or we will be on national tv 4 or 5 times (not counting the bowl game or championship game..giving you more exposure on a bigger stage), We will still play PWI schools until more 4 and 5 black players start enrolling in other HBCU and build their program, then we will play them, and the PWI will be coming to our door, wanting us to play them. and you can still put up numbers, (hell maybe beating these top PWI programs, we will schedule the 11 that everyone only watches/checks for, and just maybe your SR year once we get more top recruits of your caliber, IN WHICH WE WANT YOU TO BRING IN FOR US).The campus will invest back into the football or basketball program and you will start to get/aquire the same things that's at LSU and BAMA, we can get that same smart board, yall can have a hot tub, hell we can put 5 more hot tubs in the locker/weight room, yall can eat all the energy bars yall want, once the fans start coming to the stadium to see you and your friends play and win, the revenue will start to pick up, I'm not worried about you not getting any exposure, you've been getting the exposure since you've been in HS, it's not going anywhere, people will follow you and they will want to see you play, so that's not going anywhere, and let me let you in on something about the NFL AND NBA..THE NBA/NFL needs BLACK PLAYERS..NOBODY WANTS TO WATCH AN ALL WHITE LEAGUE so you'll go

shid..let me become a recruiter Lol..Pay me 80k-100k and I'll shake this shit up with just these 6 points..I wouldn't need long...lol

Folks talking about PWI have better this and better than..well you know how they got to that point, because of the black player, when these racist ass colleges weren't recruiting black players, better yet allowing blacks on their campuses, their facilities were just as average as the next HBCU school but now they have gotten 80 flat screens and built up areas around their campus, all of because of the millions and millions..excuse me, billions of dollars that are generated from the sport arena. Now who created this revenue???

So all it takes is one black high talented recruit, he tell 10 others to come with him..or just go to a HBCU...that next year..he recruit more kids of his caliber..and now ppl are going to these games..and now the money is coming through and now the facilitates will start to improve even more so...You see how that works...all this PWI have better this and better than, yea it's off of the black player...let him stop going to these racist ass colleges and watch and see if these HBCUs school will have the money to give these players..and build up their campuses...

You'll see expansion in their stadiums..Just imagine how the Bayou Classic would be in a Leonard Fournette was to attend Southern or GSU or any HBCU school and he was able to grab his buddy Speedy Noil who is also from New Orleans to play in the same league as him...

Look at how the SWAC will be then...That's when the shift in this arena will take notice..Those 2 still will go to the NFL or NBA, you know why because America doesn't want to see an ALL-WHITE LEAGUE...YOU STILL NEED BLACKS PLAYERS TO MAKE THIS SHIT POP.

So all it takes is 2 or 3 4 or 5 star recruits to make that move and bring in their friends and all hell will break loose..

Then we will see who and what schools will be getting their own network..I see the ACC is trying is getting their own network..Let these black kids AND PARENTS wake the hell up and start enrolling in these HBCU and watch that ACC network become Lol

Black player/recruits create facilitates and revenue

I wish someone/recruits would project to the youth that are in middle school now..show them the bigger picture...PWI getting rich off black players...

You asked, BH, what could a recruiter sell:

1. History : tie their personal history in w/ the school/HBCUs. Make them aware of how/when/where/why the school was started.
2. Pride : [instill pride of attending] tie their name into the legacy that is the history of that school/HBCUs
3. Culture : make the potential recruit aware of the cultural aspect of that school/HBCUs
4. Desire of being wanted/needed to continue ascension of the school/HBCU to greatness
5. Academic offeratory
6. Location(?)

But again, it would take a higher level of understanding and intelligence in order to simply have time to speak w/ a potential recruit and have them make an informed decision based upon those points and their potential futures. A lot of today's youth simply do not have that awareness and intelligence, imho. ~2.5 hours ago, a bud's son just verbal'd to Tulane Univ taking him off the market of "preferred walk-on/partial schol" status by Sumlin's staff @ tx a&m. ::read:: What's even worse is that Prairie View knows who he is lol [due to Sumlin's staff attempted recruiting initially] and didn't offer him... nada. :)

Cromartie made it to the league and he came from Tenn St.?

People's whole argument trying to defend these PWI is crazy, you prolly could get away with it back in 95, hell maybe even in 2005, but shit in 2016 when any and everybody can be seen and found..nah..I don't buy it..Charles Woodson was better than Cromartie in college and had more exposure, noone even knew about Cromartie when he was at Tenn St but those around the HBCU world.

Who in college is putting up numbers??? Lets break it down.

This is all perception and it's all a mind game (The white man's ice is better)
Just because you have more than me, doesn't equate to you being better,..when all I have to do is perform on the field and put up the numbers, and again what RB/FB that's on the PWI platform out here putting up heavy numbers that's not on Bama or LSU team..

The RB from Ole Miss/Maryland/Indiana/Vandy/etc I can go on, has a chance to go 1st round or 2nd round? Without google, people can't even name the starting RBs from those teams and say they have decent numbers lol.. I can pull down stats from the HBCU arena and show you players that are outplaying these kids up and down at every position.

It's only certain players that are promised certain chances at making it to the NFL realistic and those are the ones that's putting up the numbers, your top 10-15 picks and after those picks are gone, everybody else is pretty much on the same playing field...

LBs at BYU/Maryland/Indiana/Vandy/Kansas/Toledo/Penn ST are no better than LBS from Alcorn/SU/GSU/JSU, they all are 240-255 pds and can run a 4.4. so why in the hell would I send my black son or nephew or anybody to one of these racist ass schools? When was the last LB/RB/CB/QB drafted from Vandy/Kansas/Toledo/Penn.ST etc in the 1st or 2nd round?
Like I said, it's the same 11-15 schools that send kids off to the 1st rounds and after that, the playing field is level'd, so again, why are all of our black recruits not understanding this..

You'll have a better shot at going to the NFL if you go to a Southern/Grambling/Alcorn/Jackson ST and put up the numbers, because they get more exposure than most of these PWI schools now.
Alcorn will be on TV 5 times..I think Grambling 4, I think Southern 3 maybe 4 plus the Bayou Classic, and this isn't even counting the SWAC ship or the Celebration bowl, so why would I encourage a black kid to play ball for a Vandy or Toledo/Indiana etc?
These kids have to really think about the setup. You can go play WR at Missouri or Tenn and still won't get drafted, but if you go to an HBCU as a 4 or 5 star recruit and put up the numbers..you'll more than likely get drafted..

I think we as black recruiters have to be more blunt, like what you selling the history of the school? meaning..you telling them when it was established and the founders? (ok I see what you mean, my bad)

Honestly I just think the black recruiters HBCU have to go to the gut and let them know these whites don't give a shat about them and how most of these ppl at these schools are racists.

All this passive talk won't cut it..you have to pin them down and show them who is the enemy along with their parents...but more so the kid...
Not on some militant talk but on the truth..Let them know that, you can score the winning TD for that PWI school and you can be gunned down that same night for being black on that campus by a white cop who was at the dayum game smh..Let them know how the other students on those campuses treat other black students and organization..hanging nooses around their building..tossing bananas at them..waking up and seeing how they treat your black queens...I mean, you gotta show these kids how these white folks operate..

I think alot of black ppl (parents) see whites as not being so evil now..and they think it's ok and sweet to send that 4 or 5 recruit to that racist ass school, thinking they are something special when in reality once they graduate they won't be shat if they don't get their education...hell even if they still get their education, they still will need a job and guess who is doing the hiring in that area where you're working..but more than likely that kid is coming back to his hometown...where he's around his people..he or she still have to look in the face of black ppl and still have to put in the same leg work as that kid who went and played ball for that HBCU, but the difference the kid at the HBCU knows how the world works...and appreciates the road that he or she took..IMO I would feel that the kid that went to a Vandy or Kansas, having to come home would feel entitle to stuff which would make it more harder for him or her to succeed in the working field/society. Thus you see most still trying to pursue football/basketball dreams at 26-35.

You are my hero when you post like this. :D Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Be brutally honest, I agree.

Odums give me a shot, I bet I can pull a 5 star player at Southern...

I don't understand what they are even telling these kids..it's not that hard and with events that's happening in this world in our own backyard, this is the perfect time..these white folks are showing their hand..all the shat that's becoming un hidden/you can only smile in black faces for so long before you show your true colors..look at OU, look at the shat that happened at Missouri..the Colorado link posted, it wouldn't be hard to go to a Scotlandville and get Levi or go to a X school in BR and get that top recruit..

If any school that should be bringing a 4 or 5 star black recruit, it should be SU...that's my school but we have close to enough facilitates than most of these PWI schools and we have dayum near more exposure than most of these schools

Man you print out every fuk'd up racist article/clipping from these TOP PWI schools starting with LSU and you give him a printout and you take a printout and you both read together (Slowly all the fucked up shit done to the players along with the other black students or hell black ppl in that community. Most of these kids go to these PWI schools and don't even know they are located in SUNDOWN TOWNS/COUNTYs (what's that you ask? areas where blacks have to leave before the SUN sets on their asses..hell UGA is in one, OU is another that's located in one..they use to hang black folks on their campus..I wanna say the tree is still there. You read about 4 or 5 articles to that player and you start throwing out FACTS and the TRUTH about how his grandparents (not his mom and dad) they may be coons and don't think white mommy and white daddy would do such a thing, but his grand parents, what they had to overcome...and let him know...and you go from there...

Tell him to bring in about 10 or 11 or his friends he know..and bam..the dominoes start to fall...
That following year...you and that 4 or 5 star player go out and do wash, rinse and repeat...

Man look Lol...

I'm sure those paid house guys on pwcu staff will paint another type of picture though BH, so you'd have to be prepared for that. Also, I'm sure those pwcu powers that saw you as a threat would attempt to do everything in their power to either shut you down, shut you up, or create some fictitious recruiting violation where they can then shut you down OR cry enough to mazza ncaa and tell them "the playing [recruiting] field is NOT level and fair for them." ::read:: Have to be prepared for the emotional response from the enemy BH by crossing every single T and dotting every single I.

And that's when our staff, will have to express to the kid what all he or she may hear about the program/university and to focus on the overall goal..This isn't about football even though the recruiter is on a football/basketball assignment, it's about life as a black man.

That recruiter needs to be knowledgeable of history (our history more so) outside of sports to lay to the kid..teach him about who he is and where he come from..all that football talk can be done, but he or she needs to know who they are..the media already painted them as this and that but haven't told them who they are really are and where they come from which is from Kings and Queens who once ran this world.

Again this goes back to our curriculum in these HS and middle schools, I feel if we are taught our history and understand who we are, the recruiting of a 4 or 5 player would be easy but it's ok, we just have to start to educate these kids. Pop Warner/Middle School/High School, keep these whites away from our kids..

Man look, These coaches/advisor/consultant//hell even AD's should do a tour to these high schools and lecture these kids..put on a camp and hold a lecture and teach these kids..
Hell if I was an AD, I'll create a incentive package if one of my coaches could get a 4 or 5 star player to enroll and play for one of our programs...

We can't as coaches/ADs/ etc to sit back and let these whites get rich off of our backs..it's been too long..They need to step up..hell bring an activist on the recruiting trip with you..somebody to stirr the mind of these kids..shat lol..shat is crazy to see a 4 star to go to Washington State or some shat

This isn't about football even though the recruiter is on a football/basketball assignment, it's about life as a black man.

Here! Here! Precisely. And no one should be better able and prepared to tell you about that life than another black man.

But lol. Beware of those salaried blacks working @ pwcus as recruiters because they have a job to do (deliver the 4I/5*) and will pull out those same "I look like you" stops to secure that recruit. Revisit what occurred post 1967/1968 about HBCU campuses - who lured those former employees away and what purpose they served on pwcu campuses and are STILL serving today. ::read::

There is no argument that you can present that's going to make a 5 star kid choose Southern over the SEC. Only possible chance you have is if the kid's parents attended there and even then it's a stretch. Mainly because you can't argue against cost of attendance, playing in front of 90k+ and the chance to win a national championship...while being on national tv every week. Even G5 FBS schools cant pull it off except for maybe 1 out of 1000 every now and then. The culture really isn't enough.

Levy in the SWAC lawd. Dude is electricity. He better not let them convert him to another position. You know how they do our QB's.

I believe the glass is half-full, unk. I believe that there has to be a special type kid w/ great understanding who could be pulled in the HBCU direction vs the p5/g5 folks. That kid has to have GREAT understanding and intelligence unselfishly w/ humility coupled w/ wisdom and a connection to the past though. ::read::

Look up where the "fighting tigers" come from. Man I was so disappointed in Lindsey letting his son get to LSU smh.

I can tell you one thing, Odums and crew did something remarkable when they convinced that SU Lab player to turn away from LSU and sign with us.
