Sell the HBCU culture and its historic tradition.
Let's give our HBCU staff some points they can take with them when approaching these kids..It's time (if this isn't the right time) to start this shift..
Shit is sad to see our talent being milk'd at these racist ass schools that we all know can't stand black ppl period..
Chancellor: CU’s black athletes say they’re part of “The Plantation”
Read the story here-> http://www.denverpost.com/2016/07/14/university-colorado-black-athletes-plantation/
Man I went to LSU 7 on 7 came and was watching Landry Walker (who by the way is loaded, and their QB is a beast) and I was watching them play against that QB from ST.James that committed to LSU and I was also watching Cam (the LSU OC) and I was like what if that kid from ST James was to be put in a Germany Offense or a PV offense...it will get ugly...
Why we couldn't get these kids into our schools...I'm looking like CAM (the LSU OC) is pure ass..he's no better than the OC in the SWAC in my opinion..what the hell he's sitting up against the goal post as if he's some hellva offensive guru..Like our kids are really that brain-washed
You asked, BH, what could a recruiter sell:
1. History : tie their personal history in w/ the school/HBCUs. Make them aware of how/when/where/why the school was started.
2. Pride : [instill pride of attending] tie their name into the legacy that is the history of that school/HBCUs
3. Culture : make the potential recruit aware of the cultural aspect of that school/HBCUs
4. Desire of being wanted/needed to continue ascension of the school/HBCU to greatness
5. Academic offeratory
6. Location(?)
But again, it would take a higher level of understanding and intelligence in order to simply have time to speak w/ a potential recruit and have them make an informed decision based upon those points and their potential futures. A lot of today's youth simply do not have that awareness and intelligence, imho. ~2.5 hours ago, a bud's son just verbal'd to Tulane Univ taking him off the market of "preferred walk-on/partial schol" status by Sumlin's staff @ tx a&m. ::read:: What's even worse is that Prairie View knows who he is lol [due to Sumlin's staff attempted recruiting initially] and didn't offer him... nada.![]()
I think we as black recruiters have to be more blunt, like what you selling the history of the school? meaning..you telling them when it was established and the founders? (ok I see what you mean, my bad)
Honestly I just think the black recruiters HBCU have to go to the gut and let them know these whites don't give a shat about them and how most of these ppl at these schools are racists.
All this passive talk won't cut it..you have to pin them down and show them who is the enemy along with their parents...but more so the kid...
Not on some militant talk but on the truth..Let them know that, you can score the winning TD for that PWI school and you can be gunned down that same night for being black on that campus by a white cop who was at the dayum game smh..Let them know how the other students on those campuses treat other black students and organization..hanging nooses around their building..tossing bananas at them..waking up and seeing how they treat your black queens...I mean, you gotta show these kids how these white folks operate..
I think alot of black ppl (parents) see whites as not being so evil now..and they think it's ok and sweet to send that 4 or 5 recruit to that racist ass school, thinking they are something special when in reality once they graduate they won't be shat if they don't get their education...hell even if they still get their education, they still will need a job and guess who is doing the hiring in that area where you're working..but more than likely that kid is coming back to his hometown...where he's around his people..he or she still have to look in the face of black ppl and still have to put in the same leg work as that kid who went and played ball for that HBCU, but the difference the kid at the HBCU knows how the world works...and appreciates the road that he or she took..IMO I would feel that the kid that went to a Vandy or Kansas, having to come home would feel entitle to stuff which would make it more harder for him or her to succeed in the working field/society. Thus you see most still trying to pursue football/basketball dreams at 26-35.
And that's when our staff, will have to express to the kid what all he or she may hear about the program/university and to focus on the overall goal..This isn't about football even though the recruiter is on a football/basketball assignment, it's about life as a black man.I'm sure those paid house guys on pwcu staff will paint another type of picture though BH, so you'd have to be prepared for that. Also, I'm sure those pwcu powers that saw you as a threat would attempt to do everything in their power to either shut you down, shut you up, or create some fictitious recruiting violation where they can then shut you down OR cry enough to mazza ncaa and tell them "the playing [recruiting] field is NOT level and fair for them." ::read:: Have to be prepared for the emotional response from the enemy BH by crossing every single I and dotting every single T.
This isn't about football even though the recruiter is on a football/basketball assignment, it's about life as a black man.
Levy in the SWAC lawd. Dude is electricity. He better not let them convert him to another position. You know how they do our QB's.Odums give me a shot, I bet I can pull a 5 star player at Southern...
I don't understand what they are even telling these kids..it's not that hard and with events that's happening in this world in our own backyard, this is the perfect time..these white folks are showing their hand..all the shat that's becoming un hidden/you can only smile in black faces for so long before you show your true colors..look at OU, look at the shat that happened at Missouri..the Colorado link posted, it wouldn't be hard to go to a Scotlandville and get Levi or go to a X school in BR and get that top recruit..
If any school that should be bringing a 4 or 5 star black recruit, it should be SU...that's my school but we have close to enough facilitates than most of these PWI schools and we have dayum near more exposure than most of these schools
There is no argument that you can present that's going to make a 5 star kid choose Southern over the SEC. Only possible chance you have is if the kid's parents attended there and even then it's a stretch. Mainly because you can't argue against cost of attendance, playing in front of 90k+ and the chance to win a national championship...while being on national tv every week. Even G5 FBS schools cant pull it off except for maybe 1 out of 1000 every now and then. The culture really isn't enough.
Look up where the "fighting tigers" come from. Man I was so disappointed in Lindsey letting his son get to LSU smh.Man you print out every fuk'd up racist article/clipping from these TOP PWI schools starting with LSU and you give him a printout and you take a printout and you both read together (Slowly all the fucked up shit done to the players along with the other black students or hell black ppl in that community. Most of these kids go to these PWI schools and don't even know they are located in SUNDOWN TOWNS/COUNTYs (what's that you ask? areas where blacks have to leave before the SUN sets on their asses..hell UGA is in one, OU is another that's located in one..they use to hang black folks on their campus..I wanna say the tree is still there. You read about 4 or 5 articles to that player and you start throwing out FACTS and the TRUTH about how his grandparents (not his mom and dad) they may be coons and don't think white mommy and white daddy would do such a thing, but his grand parents, what they had to overcome...and let him know...and you go from there...
Tell him to bring in about 10 or 11 or his friends he know..and bam..the dominoes start to fall...
That following year...you and that 4 or 5 star player go out and do wash, rinse and repeat...
Man look Lol...
