Recruit a 4 or 5 star player

Nope. There is movement. Bighead has a lit fire and my fire has been lit since I was 15 lol. I stay wanting the challenge. :)

Man, it's just these coaches/recruiters just need an approach and just talking football/basketball won't get it.

They have these events that has happened recently (even though the stuff been happening) to lean on. Social media had exposed all of these racist ass schools, you have forums that these students from these schools are on making racist ass remarks about the players.. THE PLAYERS THAT THEY GO TO THE GAMES TO CHEER FOR THEY CALL THEM ALL TYPES OF THIS AND THAT

Man if I was Odums, this what I'll do...I'll go one on of these forums..LSU would be my main one..them racist fukers love spewing racist stuff towards black players and print out stuff from there..I'll print out other things that has happened to other black regular students on that campus...I'll then print out things about the ppl that sit up in these higher position and let them read about what they think yo black ass if not you, but your ppl, your uncle/cousin/etc.
They love saying slick stuff..Let them see who side their own in this world.

I'll just go from school to school showing him or her these racist ass things..spit some stuff up Group Economics..touch on all the police brutality, touch on Freedom of Speech...once you go to these PWI schools, you as a player can't speak on nothing dayum near...how you literally sign yo life away..man I'll go in..making these racist ass colleges the enemy in which they are..

Most of my visit wouldn't even be about Football or Basketball etc, it would be about being a black man in America..You're that first before you're anything else.
Break down all the myths that he or she may have about HBCUs and show him the good things as well as some of the bad things that goes on our campus, but one difference would be, is that at the end of the day, we still love yo black ass..at the end of the day at these racist ass schools.."You're just another n***a, that plays sports"

That would be my whole recruiting platform/presentation..I may not get him/her, but once he or she enrolls on campus and sees the stuff that goes on..the same stuff that we talked about in our recruiting session..

I bet I get one or 2 players calling and asking if they can transfer..I may not get them all on that visit, but I bet I'll get one or two..and then they would be able to share their story on how they were treated to the next...making the transitioning easier for me when I go out to recruit..
..

I could see Michael Strahan doing this for TxSU.

My fiance's son is 13 and plays middle line backer. If Strahan showed up at our house to recruit him to Texas Southern I would be impressed. My next question to Strahan would be "Are you going to continue to mentor him throughout his college career or is this just a temporary ploy to get him to sign?"

One of the things that concern me is that our players that make it in to the league should really mentor players at the their alma mater. Imagine if a kid had Strahan's cell number and he actually took the time (which I don't know if he does or not) to actually serve as a listening ear to Texas Southern football players....WOW!!!

Man that'll go a long way if we can get a mentor program set up..All the greats from our schools reach out to these kids..Even the ones that just graduated can do so..

Just imagine an Anenus Williams reaching out to that DB, telling him to make SU or a HBCU your home..take a visit..

Man I just saw on the thread where PV put on a camp,

That head coach, (if he has the spine) should have invited all these top recruits (4 or 5 star) and others, got all these kids in space where he could have spoke, and just gave them black boys the truth...how America sees them..Even if he didn't want to speak, bring in someone to tell these young boys what to expect from the whites at these schools..cuz I surely enough think that these recruiters from these white racist ass schools, either don't mention the abuse or just brush over or play it as it's a light matter...shid..words can damage ppl mind...I bet they don't tell them black kids, that they will be call niggers and monkeys and all types of stuff when enrolling in their campus..I bet they don't tell them how the other black students will be treated...Lol...

It's our job as recruiters/coaches to tell these kids..IT"S NOT LIKE WE ARE LYING?? BUT WE AS RECRUITERS/COACHES AND YOU KNOW WHAT FANS/PARENTS are to scared..don't have a spine and think we should come together with these racist ass folks...fuk that...

Bruh me and some friends were sitting around brainstorming about the GSU presidency and I made the statement that I would not have hired Doug back the second but would have hired Fobbs. I would have hired Doug to be head of fundraising for football and accompany the coaches to recruit.

Pretty sure that's illegal (former players making visits).

Thats cool. I'll have a DVD with a prerecorded video with AAMU legends (including academics and non-athletes) and current students/players testifying of the university and why they should choose AAMU.

Is that illegal too?

Randy Hymes is doing a lot this summer with potential recruits. He showed me some pics and video of him at GSU with some guys.

That would be cool. Smart is a one-and-done. Might as well go on the yard

I'll do it...

Matter of fact, if I see the kid in New Orleans or something alone by himself..at one of these tourneys I'ma show spew that talk to him..and let him know..

He's one and done anyway...I wouldn't see why he wouldn't go after Smart...

Smart will average 35 at least

I don't know the young man but don't expect too much of a positive response BH. Keep focused. ::read:: I've been fighting this battle a loooooooooooong time. :(

Its hard to convince these kids especially when there parents benefitted from the education of HBCU's but they don't encourage or even show there kids the benefit of our schools. I have a gentlemen that I work with he's an SU grad but he only wears LSU gear and his son attends the University of Alabama. Again we have to show our kids the benefit of our schools. That's the reason why I take my kids to Alcorn any and every time I can, as well as show them that you can be successful on and off the court or field.

My future son only sports GSU stuff. He told Fobbs that he wants to play for him and he's not the coach then he will still play for GSU.

Not looking for a positive one.. just want the young man/men to "think"

Long as the seed is planted, IMO I don't think it's planted..and

Most of these coaches in the FCS, DII and even some at the lower levels of the FBS, know they aren't going to be able to recruit 4 and 5 star kids to their programs. When Chris Peterson was at Boise State, he said as much.

I remember speaking to an FCS coach at non-HBCU with really good facilities and had a history of competing for national championships. He pretty much said he knows those 4-5 and star kids want to go to BCS schools. So the program, he said, focuses on trying to recruit kids they have more realistic chance at.

All these coaches are spittin' game to these kids during recruiting. And coaches and schools have to work extra hard to recruit the kids they want because every program is pulling out all the stops to get them..

Folks should be wondering why HBCUs are missing out on kids who sign with North Dakota State, Richmond, Charleston Southern and McNeese State instead of LSU. HBCUs are ultimately competing against them for recruits, not schools in the SEC.

That's real talk too,

Like I said, it's only 11 school and the rest to me are just like HBCU, some of our schools even get more exposure than alot of these other schools.

That's make me question, are we as coaches/recruiters what are we telling these kids to not have them at our schools.

Like I said we need to be blunt about this system.

All these kids -- even the ones who end up in the FCS or at HBCUs -- want to first get a D1/FBS offer. Let's not front here. It validates them as athletes to know that Nick Saban or Les Miles is recruiting them. You hear and read about pro athletes -- guys who made it from the FCS or lower -- say how much it stung a little bit to not get much interest from FBS programs in football or a BCS program in basketball out of high school. It means a lot to them.

But as far as the other schools are concerned, I can't explain it. Some of it might have to do with proximity to the crib.

1. Ppl care when you start to educate them. Ppl don't care because ppl don't break it down to the player/recruit in terms of how the setup is setup. None of it factor because recruiters are too scared to dive into the race talk and really break the shit down. That's why it doesn't matter.

2. So you're telling me, that there is close to 10k-20k black ppl out of that 90k in the stands at ALL of your UT, Bama, OU, Texas Tech, Baylor, etc football game? Dude stop, I went to UGA last year and SU had more black ppl there, than the black ppl that were at the game cheering for UGA, and we brought about 5k, I may be wrong with that number, but out of that big ass stadium, Maybe 2k-4k had black folks in the stands repping UGA and I'm being generous. What is you saying dude?

3. Why would not you reach 99k? and tell me this who reaches 99k outside of the 11 schools folks wanna see, maybe Michigan and Tenn,? Do you think Texas Tech reaches 99k if they are not playing UT or some ranked team? Let me ask you this, if the 4 or 5 black recruit stop going to these racist ass schools, would they continue to reach 99k and get TV deals/networks?

4. Once the black players leave and start enrolling into these HBCU and start to build up their program, Do you really think black folks will give a shit about the Rose Bowl or any of that other shit??

Man you are looking/speaking in a "oh fuk it, it can't be done" matter, same as how these coaches and recruiters are thinkin The only way this can be pulled off, is these recruiters have to break everything down...when I say break it down..I'm talking about all the way down to the point to where, if you're talking about a feet on a body and it's function..you have to talk about the toe nail on that toe, you have to give at least 20-30 minutes on why the toe nail is there and why it's function ..you can't just say "oh the feet are use for walking" and then move on..no you have to show these kids what the toe'nail is used for..like why is it 90k ppl at these games and who and what that 90k really think of you...vs what a 25k-40k would think of you..your own kind..you have to really go break stuff down at the beginning of this process, and then once recruits start to enroll, then you can maybe just talk about the feet and what all it does for the body.

This process/recruiting has to be treated like a doctor performing on a heart, he/she looks at every vain/muscle and examines it to the fullest before working on the heart, even in the muscle/vein isn't associated with the heart. It plays a part in a heatlthy heart..

Recruiting a black 4 or 5 player, every subject matter has to be on point.

I honestly can't even give this a serious response.

Not looking for a positive one.. just want the young man/men to "think"

Long as the seed is planted, IMO I don't think it's planted..and

Remember, you can only plant on FERTILE ground that is capable of growing your seed. That's my imbecilic way of saying don't get discouraged and keep fighting the battle. I applaud what you're attempting to do.

I think the if the coaches/recruiters get solutions, they have to explain to these kids how the problem operates.

Alot of ppl don't know how this problem operates. We get that we can't get recruits but do we know how it operates with concrete facts and not what programmed message is out here.

But do we understand how it operates, then you can solve it

Aeneas Williams comes to SU all the time. Even gave players his number.
