MEAC Presidents Vote "No" to Legacy Bowl For Conference Champ

Stevie Wonder saw this coming. I say force Gram/SU/Ala.St. To move their games so the SWAC champ could compete in the playoffs. I don't care how long they been playing those games. We got to look out for the best of the entire conference. Hell, it isn’t like NBC is paying Gram & SU to play in the Bayou Classic. They pay NBC.

The Bayou Classic and TDC does not stop your team from going to the playoffs. Your team's record and the SCG is what stops you from going to the SCG.

Hey Styles,

Did you know that Stump hid SU's ENTIRE 2011 Spring Training from Jaguar Nation? Is that the sign of a desparate coach or or what?

One more thing Styles......your going to love this one:

Word around my way is that the Grambling Tiger Country is somewhat divided over the hiring of Doug Williams. We already know he loves 26 counter...:lmao:

You think you know but you have no idea. Worry about Alcorn and try to finally win the SWAC East in this millennium. By the way, why in the hell are these Hy Top azz schools complaining about a damn playoff? Win your conference consistently first if you can't do that you have know reason to even think playoffs.

Negro I know that. If things stay the way it is there is no damn way we could send a team every year. Why in the hell would they give us an automatic bid if we can't guarantee our conference champion would participate?

What makes you think we would get an automatic bid? I mean that sincerely...

...I know a SU Jaguar is not smacking Alcorn Football. Do I need to go back to the 2000 season and show why Alcorn is SU's Football Daddy? What has Alcorn done against SU in football some may ask: McNair broke the record against SU, Dr. Johnny killed SU's 2003 Perfect Season, Tony Hobson blew Pete out in Mumford 38-16; Do I need to go further? SU said Lee Robinson wasn't nobody yet Lee made 20+ tackles against SU in one game so please SU, respect your Football Daddy...

2nd Thing (Now back to the Topic)- If the SWAC goes back to the old format of eliminating the SWAC East and SWAC West and just have everybody play everybody and a Champion be determined from the season-ending record, some schools will cry foul if it ends up being a tie in the end in record and in points and we have to use a coin flip. Well, we want playoffs. If a coin flip must determine a champion than so be it.

Lol. Wut?

I'm trying to figure out why we have bums trying to get the big pieces of meat, when they haven't put any work in it? A regular season game between two different teams does not prevent a third, worthy team from participating in the playoffs. All this whining sounds like some self-righteous *****rdry if you ask me, because we (SU and Gram) have retained a viable and necessary tool for both programs. For the selfish simpletons, the issue is that of participation in two post-season championship series.

Who's fooling who here? If certain schools keep saying that they want to go to the next level, make the damn adjustments. This is the NCAA. The SWAC is in the damn NCAA and is on the FCS level. Change the schedule and go to the playoffs. Playing top notch FCS teams during the regular season is cool but that shit isn't as meaningful as beating them in the playoffs. I'm tired of the BS about the damn money issues and excuses y'all keep bringing up. Make the donations and quit being complacent...

Braveheart you can stop the bull. When it comes down to it compare Alcorns TITLES to SU's and you will see how inferior y'all really are. The last time y'all were even in the convo for a swac title George Bush, Sr was in office.

Some folks just don't understand. Neither of those games are stopping any of the other schools from trying to get a bid to go into the playoffs. It's the SCG that's the culprit.

The SCG & those teams are keeping the conference from obtaining an Automatic Qualifying Bid. No one wants to sit around hoping they get an at large bid.

The Swac has never had a auto bid so waiting for a at large is all there is. If there was no SCG all your team has to do is win. If it's down to those teams that play that weekend than your team didn't do enough winning to get there so it should be no problem.

All you got to do is win........

You know what, who cares. I don't anymore. We all know no team in this sorry conference is going anywhere. We will continue to get fouth rate players who do not know how to play the game. Coaches who don't know how to coach. Fans and alumni who won't support their schools financially. AD's who do not know how to plan ahead. The SCG doesn't make money unless certain schools is in it. That basically sums it up.

What is the point of wasting our time discussion something that will not change. The BC and TDC will not be moved.

The SWAC's glory days are gone!!! It ain't coming back! Our limits were reach 3 decades ago.

But everyone keep dreaming because when you wake up, REALTY is going to be a b!t@h of a headache to get over!! :)

Show us where the SCG isn't making money if certain schools arn't in it?

Why do you keep saying this same dumb isht like an ignorant Cra.....er?

The question should be has the SCG ever made $1 million over the past decade? If so, what year and who were the teams? The game probably never made over $750,000 over the last decade.

I would probably have to do a FOIA request to answer your question. So I don't know. But if you know, please provide the answer.

If one would look at themselves in this manner, why continue to merely exist?

The SWAC is in the midst of a transition, I would personally say.

When Prairie View and Texas Southern started to invest into their programs, it paid off heavily for them. Matter of fact, they have even gained a measure of respect, which rubs some the wrong way.

The alums want to invest into their schools, but must see the substainablity model the schools have in place (factors that will keep the sport viable over a set number of years, and a list of goals to be reached during that time period.)

Let's be honest and put it out on the table...The SCG was designed ONLY for a JSU vs. SU matchup. Why they chose the location in Birmingham is anyone's guess.

Grambling can win all the trophys in the world but they still will not be known for their attendence outside of Shreveport.

What the SWAC Office needs to realize is that in order to improve the SCG, they must study games WITH CONFERENCE TEAMS throughout the regular season to see what draws attendence.

For example, the SWAC needs to study the financial statements of the Valley vs Pine Bluff that took place in Chicago and drew over 40,000+. VALLEY AND PINE BLUFF. The SCG should be molded after games like these.

O.k., lol wut?

Seriously, though, I don't see the merit of your argument. The truth is, we simply do not travel as well to neutral sites, (well except for Southern) and that's why we struggle with gate. However, I think it would help us if we would play in a better suited stadium that reflects the attendance. The FCS Championship game is usually held in a upscale stadium that seats around 20k-25k plus. If we can find a nice venue with at least 35k seats, it would be better for our brand, since it will not show two teams playing in cavernous settings, which doesn't reflect the schools regular season attendance average.

Jag,

The SWAC has been in transition for a long time and what do we have to show for it. Beating ourselves. Tell me when was the last time a SWAC team beat a worthy opponent in football. Do not count MEAC teams.

I am glad that other schools have started to invest in their programs.

I guess we'll never know if Alcorn could afford it because y'all never win shat. How about you try to teach your losing azz school how to win then you can worry about the other issues.

Hell LSU didn't accept their WNIT bid so what's your point?

Dude, don’t try to compare your broke azz situation to LSU.

Doesn't the MEAC have an automatic bid? Also, did they not expand the amount of playoff teams a few years ago? It makes no sense to send our second, third, or fourth place teams.

Dude, don’t try to compare your broke azz situation to LSU. Go get your coach off twitter begging for money.

How about you go make Alcorn competitive before you start talking shat. You talking shat to us is like Antwon Dodson trying to tell Warren Buffett how to make money. You don't know WTF you're talking about.

The most intelligent post on here! Regardless of who won what and when, it doesn't make the situation no better! Hell, what conference rather than the SWAC wants to settle for a damn Legacy Bowl! Props to the MEAC for steadily trying to progress forward than backwards! That's why stellar coaches are leaving SWAC schools so they can play in the playoffs! The MEAC has taken the spot the SWAC once held and the commissioner, who happens to be an Alcornite has taken that conference to
another level with major corporate sponsors and etc.

.

The MEAC commissioner was the very one advocating for the Legacy Bowl.
