One big thing to note, Glen Oaks is going to dominate Class 3A in basketball.
Bossier wil be in Class 3 A next season. I believe a lot of their starters were seniors.

What happened in the 50's is nice, but now is what is most important. With that said, here are the top 10 teams in the state according to Maxprep, notice that 5 out of the top 7 are 4a schools.
For St. Aug to win 5A, they only had to beat the 8th rated team in the state.
Lets go a little further, out of the top 24 teams in the state, over half, 14 are 4A and only 6 are 5A (2 3A and 2 2A )
Irregardless of who sends someone to the pro's or what happened in the 50's, right now most of the best teams are in 4A, and for Bossier to win 4A, they had to beat the 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th rated teams in the state.
(SN: All 14 4A schools are public schools, 3 of the 6 5A schools are private and both 2a schools are private)

Lewis, it's funny how folks like to start talking about others sports and past championships when they realize that their school basketball program might not be as great as they think it is. Peabody's football and basketball programs are like night and day. Even though Peabody's football is not as successful as its basketball program, there are and has been great players that came from there, such as the Arceneaux kid that played for Alcorn who just signed with the Vikings. I believe the last time St. Aug won a state football title was back in the 80's when Otis Washington coached there and this year is the first time their basketball team won the 5A title since 2000, which Peabody won 4A title the same year. After the year 2000, Peabody has won 3 more 4A titles (2004, 2007, 2010) after 2000. What A3 fails to realize is that Peabody's basketball program just didn't become dominating just by accident. Coach Smith requires that all his players are high achievers. And even when Coach Smith was an assistant, Coach Bonial required the same things from his player. It is of my opinion that 4A became the toughest Class in the state due to Peabody's impact. By consistently making the top 24 year after year, Peabody raised the bar in Class 4A.
That just shows your limited knowledge. A lot of New Orleans people think the world ends at the edge of Lake Pontchartrain.Honestly, I never even thought anything about peabody in general. Peabody what? Peabody who? The only thing I knew about peabody............

Welcome to 4A.
Lewis be for real, peabody plays in 4A. Look at the schools yall play as compared to the teams in 5A.
alpha3 thinks that st aug is the center of the universe. Hint: I've been all over the country and most people in other states have never heard of st aug.
alpha3,
Now that aug has stepped up to the big league or down to 4A, maybe they can show us if they are really the champions they say they are.
I bet aug will get whooped by at least 3 or 4 4A teams next year. And I don't see them making it to Bossier City next year.
You finally got something right! Why are you traveling all around the country asking people about St. Aug? Dude you need to quit while you're ahead with that comment. You don't want to go there. Go back and read your initial post the day after we won state. You jumped on here with that trash about we barely won, the level of competition was low, and you even commented that it will be hard for us to repeat in 4A. You won't find any of my initial post where I questioned anything about your school because I really don't have anything to say about peabody. Everybody else saying congrats and here you come with that negativity crap.
4A has had the State's top ranked teams for at least the past 10 years (Peabody, Northside, Glen Oaks, Helen Cox, Salem). Plus, when was the last time a 5A team was nationally rank. I believe Peabody and Glen Oaks was ranked 4 and 5 respectfully on a national level in the last 10 years. Peabody finished the season last year nationally rank.
Congrats! I'm still not impressed. Are you still focusing on your basketball accomplishments?
Oh by the way, I left Bossier off that list above. They won the 4A State title and was the State's top ranked team.
Just like I'm not impressed with aug so-called accomplishments.
Congrats! Is the basketball team all you have to be proud of?
And you have that right my fellow jag.
And you have that right my fellow jag.
If Peabody and aug meet up next season, maybe we could get together to talk sh!t.
Oh hell yeah! We will have to do that! It's all good.
Lewis be for real, peabody plays in 4A. Look at the schools yall play as compared to the teams in 5A. I told you frat, the only thing I know about your is what I saw from the Marching 100 came up there and when yall came to SU for the BOTB. Everything else you're talking about, It really doesn't matter to me.
Tell me you are kidding, Did you read the facts I posted. Go to http://www.maxpreps.com/list/rankings.aspx?gendersport=boys,basketball&page=1&undefined=undefined&state=LA
and look at the past 7 years, and a 4A team has finished as the Number 1 team in the state every year but 1. Most years 3 of the top 5 teams are 4A teams and for several years no 5A team even finished in the top 5.
You should be tired of me busting you in the head with facts every time you make one of those uninformed statements.

And don't get scared if you have to come to the Emerald Palace. My folks in Alexandria knows how to treat visiting fans. Plus, I used to be in the Jukebox (83 & 84) and I knew a lot of you aug boys, such as Bobby Caridean(sp) tuba/sousaphone.
Hey Lewis,
He'll be ready for aug to go back to 5A, because I know he's going to get tired of hearing, "Get Your Hat and Coat...... And Leave!!!!!"

We'll have to see about that. St. Aug has a long history of basketball accomplishments in this state and that would be another impressive feat to add.
