Louisiana Boys Basketball Playoff glance 2011

Class B
Zolle

1A
White Castle(Southern Lab had no buisness losing to WC :smh: )

2A
Riverside

5A
St Aug in a blowout. They were up by 30 and won by 20 plus. Man St. Aug guards :what:

3A and 4A Championships SUnday.

Tuff day for the BR area. SU women lost, SU Lab and Scotlandville Lost, and SU baseball split with PV :smh: .

I told everybody the Purple was coming. Good job Purple Knights!

St. Aug is by far the best team in the state. The scary thing is they all come back except for their PG. But their back up was just as good , and Felix can play the 1 or 2. They might go undefeated in state next season. Riverside has the #1 junior in the nation and they return their entire team also, but Riverside guard play is suspect.

Peabody yall in trouble. Aug is going to be in 4A next season.

Felix got game fa real. He controlled the game like Avery use to do when he was @ SU. Its been a looooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg time since I saw a true guard who plays like that.

I was just about to mention that the whole squad was returning besides him. He reminds of Holly Price that played for the Aug back in the mid 90's who went on to play for Oklahoma. I hope we're able to get our attendance up to move back into 5A in two years.

#22 is a junior. #10 is the one thats a senior.

Correct! I was talking about Felix reminding me of how Hollis Price played when he was at St.Aug.

LAFAYETTE — Once again, and possibly for the final time, Purple reigns over the Top 28.

For the first time since 1999, St. Augustine claimed a state boys basketball championship, its fifth in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, and did so in impressive fashion.

The top-seeded Purple Knights used a 21-3 second quarter to key its 67-43 victory over second-seeded Scotlandville in the Class 5A state championship at the Cajundome in the final Top 28 on Saturday night

Four teams in 4A could have easily won the 5A State Championship. I hope Aug is not in the same district with Salmen. Salmen seems to have Aug number. IMHO, the best team in the state this year were either 4A Bossier or 2A Riverside. Class 5A is not that strong. I believe Aug would have a hard time winning state again once they drop down to 4A. Even 4A McDonald#35 defeated Aug by 11 this season and #35 is probably in the bottom tier of class 4A top 10. Aside from Bossier, who will drop down to 3A next season, Peabody, Salmen, and Northside, Aug would have a hard time beating teams like Alexandria Senior High, Washington Marion, Glen Oaks, and Istroma. None of those teams are like the cupcakes in 5A.

Congrats to Bossier, they played better than us last nite. However, Peabody will be back in it next year, We only lose 1 starter, and 2 out of our top 12 players. The rest of them are all underclassmen, so we essentailly have the same team back next year. We lost to Riverside this year by 5 points in the Sugar Bowl Classic, they have a great team and will be tough again next year.

Tell them again. Welcome, welcome, welcome!!!

Congrats to Bossier on betaing Salmen who knocked them out in 2009 and my Horses who beat them last year for the title. Their seniors deserve it. Our seniors already have rings. We failed to correct the same mistakes we made Friday night vs. Northside.

GLEN OAKS WILL BE IN 3A NEXT YEAR.

GLEN OAKS WILL BE IN 3A NEXT YEAR.

Even with Glen Oaks and Bossier dropping down to 4A, a state championship for St. Aug will not come as easy. St. Aug might not make it to the semi-finals, which will be played in Bossier City next year.

It can be played in Lake Providence, Louisiana for all we care. The Purple and Gold will be there ready for whatever peabody or CENLA has to offer.

Maybe st. aug could go to PEABODY and try to become the first in-state team to defeat them at home. They've only lost 1 game in 10 years at home. The completion between st. aug and PEABODY would be a good rivalry to start.

Yeah, I agree the competition would be great.

Attendance at the Top 28 Boys Tournament through the first 4 days: 33,282. Up 3,944 from 2010. It's a shame the SWAC Tournament can't draw those numbers and we are collegiate.

Might is a mighty big word in your case, because Salmen beat St. Aug by 11 in one of this year's HOF game and Peabody beat Salmen by two points earlier in the year.
