The SWAC was so bad this year that SU won the SWAC (no disrespect intended). Thats how bad the SWAC is. Yet Comegy, who hands down has had the best talent in the SWAC for the last 4 years, has no SWAC titles. He had to go because he didnt make the basic coaching moves to put his players in position to win titles.

PineBluff wasnt a bad team...JSU controlled the game but no other coach in the world would have been in that defense at the end of the game. In the SU game, RakimSims and Tommy Gooden had 18 carries. Clayton Moore had 42 pass attempts and 14 carries. Thats 56 times the game was in his hands instead of in the hands of the better players.

Oh Well Comegy, since you just couldnt get the ball in the hands of the best players so they could beat lesser teams, you gotta go. its been nice buddy, thanks for your service.

I could have sworn he tried to get the ball into Gooden's hands on the final play but.....well, you know how that turned out

That's what the internet is here for. In less than 5 mins, you find this information out instead of speculating. But just to save you some time - the mess with Comegy at Norfolk happened long before Meyers was there. So its bogus to think a 10 y/o grudge played a role in any of this. Comegy was fired for the same reasons you want Barlow fired.

Not true...if it were personal she could have been fired Comegy. She EASILY couldve fired him for APR issues. She couldve and shouldve fired him last year after the PB debacle. They wanted him gone for applying for the FAMU job. She has had several chances to fire him but didnt. This was a business move. The powers that be have had enough. You cant continue to lose to bad teams and stay here...8 wins 9 wins whatever....no championships, you gotta go.

valid and true point but still, yal program and Bama State programs are great programs. Barlow may not have not the championhips but he has done very well every year along with Comegy. Still see no reason to fire either men.
 
Comegy had to go because he thought he could "out-talent" these schools!!! I swear if Casey would have stayed a DAY longer than he did, we would have sucked all of the talent out of him. The players leave how they arrive, no developing or nothing. Casey's senior year he was still throwing off that back foot, Moore still not accurate and not going through his progressions. He won because he could recruit, and as long as he was a Tiger he got my support. Now the admin is having a conference about his firing, they want championships. I know you jsu haters are wishing and hoping that we go backwards, but we aren't.

Again, we are not talking about the small picture, we are talking about the BIG picture. I just showed you that our RBs only controlled the ball 18 times yet Moore controlled it 56 times.

We need better coaching with game planning rather than throwing talent on the field and hoping they make plays. I like Comegy, but his coaching philosophy didnt work without Woody

Winning = increasing attendance+APR rates increased+Graduation Rates increase+Profit at the gate+Recruiting academic sound players+winning 8 or more games.............If JSU had not lost to SU , we wouldnt be having this conversation.....at all.....

All due respect, you have a different perspective being from Alcorn. You've never been to the SWAC Championship game. 8 wins (playing the likes of Warner and Edward Waters) is probably the most you guys have had in a decade. So yeah, Comegy probably looks pretty good to you. But he was given 8 years to 1) get us back to respectability after Bell and 2) get our program back to the standards we have set. Comegy got us to respectability but he hit a wall. 8 years of the same thing is enough. I imagine basketball coaches had it hard coming after Dave Whitney because he set a standard. If you relax those standards your program falls into disarray.

Man I asked them if folk was to lose against SU in that early match-up would he be let go..and they all came in saying no no no but I bet if dude would have lost that game in A.W. he would have been gotten fired...IMO...

Truth be told, after their SCG loss, jayrob was the only one calling Comegy out. But now, the rest of 'em are. :smh:

Why would he have been fired then? Obviously the loss in Houston played a big role in his termination - because it was for the championship. Doesn't matter who was on the other end. Had he beaten UAPB last year we wouldn't be having this convo.

Basically you're saying you guys did not have a lot of talent. Garbage in, garbage out. (If what you're saying is accurate)

Casey's talent never developed at any of the places he played. Moore was a bad passer at Akron and that JC before he got to Comegy. At some point you have to realize that they just weren't very good.

Now, of course you guys should have run the ball more as GR said. JSU was in way too many spread sets as opposed to bringing in an extra blocker (TE) and handing the ball off. I was almost happy yall didn't play power football as much as you should have.

I would say hes a viable candidate - but he just finished 1-11 at Savannah. Too many shades of Bell and his 1-9 HS record - we can't go there lol. He shouldn't have taken the Savannah job, its a career killer.

You should be calling Barlow out. But as long as he brings those thugs to campus you are happy. If anybody should be firing a coach for not doing a damn thing, it should be ASU. But Im sure yall are going to give him several more years to bring in more thugs only to finish 2nd in the east again. But you keep doing the same thing over and over, we are going to get over the hump. We have to have someone that can win a BAD conference.
