Hopson going after Simmons!

Since Alcorn's DC is leaving, I Hope Karl Morgan gets a call about replacing him.

Morgan has coached at Alcorn before.

Hopson is making room.......

Southern Miss: Sources tell FootballScoop that Jay Hopson has informed Jon Williams (assistant head coach / player personnel), Justin Roberts (defensive line) and Dayne Brown (director of recruiting / player development) that they will not be retained. Additional meetings with coaches are ongoing. Tough spot for everyone involved.

I actually kinda hated seeing Alcorn's coach go as I'm all for this new knock down drag out SWAC. I didn't even think about this one. Don't see though how it would be a good move. A big HC job will come calling for Simmons if he keeps it up here eventually (and unfortunately).

Hopson's ass will get ran out of Hattiesburg if they don't win a C-USA Title within 2 years. My sources tell me those folks in the Hub City are Hell Hot.

Want some of what money?

If so, breh more money isn't always the best option breh

If dude has control over his own, why tear down your own house and help build someone's house for a few more coins?

Yep! You on dat good good. Lol

This is actually good for the SWAC. It shows that SWAC is no longer a Scarlet Letter "S" for coaches. Every SWAC coach should be rooting for Hop to succeed.

it is a very good thing. Alcorn has changed the game.

The problem Simmons is going to face, especially now since the 9 game mandate is going away. He’s not in a weak division where all he has too do is stay ahead of one school.

What no one has mentioned is that along with the money he could make at USM he could realistically win 9-10 games at USM because they are built to win RIGHT NOW. I think PV will win 8-9 games again this year but if he were to leave PV and keep USM rolling along 8-9 wins a year at USM looks better on his resume (that he is trying to rebuild) than 8-9 wins a year at PV. We know he stands a better chance at getting a FBS HC gig if he proves it at USM and gets a cosign from Hopson (for obvious reasons)

I would hate it for PV as well with the new stadium but that's the nature of the business today
