So, supposedly the Miles bid has the backing of UAB. Why would UAB want to do that? It seems AAMU let it be known they want in on a medical school. UAB doesn't want that.

I doubt the state would allow another medical school, especially that close to UAB-Med. It wouldn't make a lot of sense

A (willing) black face on ulterior motive

Happens all the time here with no SWAC schools having representation on the IHL with Tougaloo being the black face

Yall already know this was white folks blocking AAMU. Miles can barely stay afloat how in the hell did they out bid us? I mean we have way more programs and much larger. I tell you as my granddaddy use to say "A crac@#r ain't nothing but a crac@%r because that's all a crack@%r can be".

I told you Miles isn't a threat - they know what they can or can't do and that's the type of kneegro they like

miles now will owe whomever a lifetime debt which means you can't count on them to help you

Apparently, Miles had that successful $100M fundraiser over the last five years and have the money to make a bid. Maybe they outbid us or maybe BSC thinks that Miles would be more similar to what BSC was and would better sustain BSC's legacy. I would like to know the amount of their offer.
But this was only a letter of intent, not the actual contract to purchase. We have to wait to see if the purchase actually goes through.

We can always use this money for something else. Our board of trustees just approved a $58M student amenities center and an $85M stems building.

Honestly, AAMU got a land to do other stuff with. I hate yall on this board but I can't lie, I like yall campus.

I posted what I said earlier a reason. The white folks in Alabama don't want a black school having a medical program. Y'all better learn your history. UAH did the same thing to stop A&M from getting a full engineering program for decades under the umbrella of the University of Alabama. We had to literally sue and take it to the Supreme Court in which Dr. Author Bonds the founder of the National Society of Black Engineers our dean did. White people are strategic. Stop Bowing down to these folks. Follow the paper trail. It's what they have some to us for decades. No different from Georgia Tech blocking every school in the state of Georgia until the early 2000's from having a full engineering program to have a monopoly on it. White schools front like they are ending DEI. They get to much funding for it. They are just dressing it up under another program to make the racist Trump supporters feel good. We fall for the Okie dokie all the time. White schools didn't want minorities there until Clinton opened up the pocket books with funding. All the ethnic groups at White universities attended HBCUs in large numbers in the 80's and early 90's because they weren't accepted at those schools especially in the South. I'm sorry I will never be passive about the low down work of the American Pilgrims. You can buy I will not lay down for them.

From what I understand, it was partly, if not exclusively, AAMU's fault for not having an engineering program much earlier. As I understand it, Von Braun tried to get AAMU to develop an engineering program but the school president thought a school of engineering technology was enough. It was only after then that UA set up that engineering school that eventually became UAH. When I was in school, UAH was nothing more than a commuter school.

This is great for Miles… bad for the city of Fairfield… the city is already crumbling….. it would disappear without Miles there.
We probably can buy Miles' campus in Fairfield for less and spend the $35M improving it.

Nope not true. UAH was set up because Von Braun was a racist. You have to remember that Von Braun was a Nazi. What Nazi in the 60's wanted to be around black people? The state of Alabama put UAH in Huntsville to get the racist German Nazi's to come to Huntsville because they didn't want their kids to be around black people. Redstone nor NASA didn't even hire black people back in those days in engineering positions. Hell the University of Alabama didn't even have black students. Remember it was a black AAMU grad that help integrated UA. The German scientists were well documented to be racist. Also according to state Law you can't have duplicate programs in the same area. I was one of the students who set in and helped Dr. Bonds when going after the programs we have now. I know the truth.

Not quite true. Von Braun was active in fighting g discrimination in Huntsville and NASA. He publicly opposed George Wallace after the schoolhouse door. He recruited black engineers and recruited from black schools, including A&M. He recruited and spoke at Miles when Miles opened it's new physics building. A lot of his recruiting began in the 50's.

UAH was set up in 1961 when Von Braun got the legislature to set up a research center in Huntsville. The center did not become UAH until 1969 when it was taken over by Alabama. Von Braun had signed a memorandum of agreement with A&M in 1968.

He did come to Alabama as former NAZI but is undeniable that he tried to integrate NASA as well as Huntsville.

I'm not going to say it's a Lie but what you said is not all true. As someone who has been fighting this fight for over 30 years to get black engineers hired in Huntsville AL I will say this and leave it alone. Redstone nor it's DoD contractors did not hire black engineers in large numbers until the 2000's. I could easily ask the 20 plus dudes on this page who has been fighting that fight with me to chime in but sometimes you gotta let people win with their views. 😂 Prime example is I was the only black test engineer badged to test at the number one DoD companies in America in Huntsville until 2004. Just saying...... I know the fight. I also helped wrote the program with Dr. Peter Romaine when we started the masters program in EET, MET, CET through the industrial technology department. I don't have to lie to kick it. I also within the last month through friends turned the Co-Op office on to five companies that have never hired A&M grass and interested in doing so. I don't get into the A&M gossip because quite frankly I just help and keep it moving.

Don't call anything I say a lie. You should read history rather than just coming up with some outlandish opinion devoid of facts. I suggest you become well read on a subject before attempt to immune some other person's knowledge based upon research and study.

You were not the only one in this fight. When I was an Asst. Attorney General of Alabama, I refused to use peremptory strikes in a discrimatorily manner to remove prospective black jurors from serving on juries. Some white prosecutors did it because the law allowed it. My viewpoint was vi dicated when the Supreme Court decided Batson v Kentucky and put that practice to an end. We all hod to participate in some fight or another.
