BCS.........just take out the C and make it BS

To further support your point, think back to the 2009-2010 Sugar Bowl that had SEC runner-up Florida (12-1) vs. Big East Champ Cincinnati(12-0). Cincinnati was very close to playing in the BCS National Championship game against Alabama due to Texas' near loss to Nebraska in the Big 12 title game. Florida embarrassed them in New Orleans and showed that the Big East had no business playing in any BCS game. If they didn't call off the dogs, Florida could have hung 100 on them.

Of course, in that same game a year earlier, Alabama was thoroughly outclassed by Utah. I agree that who you play matters to some extent, but your schedule doesn't prove who can beat whom.

On the flip side, look at Boise State's Schedule:

vs. #15 Georgia
vs. TCU

Knowing that your conference schedule is weak, you obviously have no business scheduling more cupcake teams.

You're proving my point. Georgia's been rolling so that dominant win BSU has against Georgia more impressive now (although I don't know what Florida has to do with this).

Stanford nor Oregon has a win against a team of that quality yet no one questions them if either of them win out and possibly make the BCS title game.

If you are Bama, Notre Dame, Michigan or Oklahoma, why would you schedule Boise State (a perennial top 15 team), at the start of the season and risk losing when there is really nothing to prove? The only school I know who has not done that in recent years was USC when they scheduled Va. Tech, Auburn, Arkansas and Ohio State at the beginning of seasons during their hostile takeover of the then Pac-10 under Pete Carroll. Now LSU has played a good non-conference schedule this season. Gotta respect that.

Here is the "murderers row" of schools Bama has remaining on its schedule:Mississippi State, Georgia Southern and Auburn. Among the wins the Tide has already garnered included the likes of Kent State, Penn State, North Texas, Ole Miss, unranked Florida and Vandy. How "quality" are those wins?

You don't count Penn State as a quality win? You just lost all credibility. Penn State is currently #12 in the BCS poll with an 8-1 record, and their only loss is to Alabama which was by 16 points. I see how you conveniently left out how Alabama also beat the current #8 team in the BCS poll, Arkansas, by 24 points, whose only loss is to, wait for it, wait for it, Alabama. Boise State's only win quality win against a ranked opponent was against Georgia, who is currently ranked #15, below both Penn State and Arkansas, both of which were beat in convincing fashion by Alabama. The bottom line is that Alabama has a tougher schedule and more quality wins, and their only loss was to the #1 team in the country in overtime. It can't get much closer than that. If you think Boise State is better than Alabama, it's like you're saying that Boise State would've beaten a #1 ranked LSU. Do you really believe that?

Because the BEST team in the country is also in their conference AND THEIR DIVISION.

Like somebody said earlier, do you think the winner of the Big East (for example) is better than the number two team in the SEC, simply because they won the Big East?

That's laughable.

The fact of the matter is that before last saturday's game, LSU and Bama were the two "best" teams in the nation . . . and they still are. Regardless of their current "rankings".
Roll Tide ! ! !

THANK YOU!!!! +1

If you are not going to count Georgia as a quality win, then I'm not going to count Penn State as a quality win. I mean, the Big Ten is terrible this year. Terrible. Where are Penn State's quality wins? Oh, that's right, they don't have one yet. In fact, the only ranked team Penn State has played (then No.2 Bama) they lost by 16.

The only ranked team Boise State has played (No.14 Georgia) they won by two touchdowns, and didn't allow the Bulldogs a single trip inside the 25 all night. You mean an SEC team could get in the red zone once against a little ole Mountain West school who plays this cupcake schedule?

Do I believe that Boise State could beat Bama or LSU? Sure. Why not? Utah beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl in 2008 when the Tide were the No. 1 team in the country for much of the season until they lost in the SEC Championship Game to Florida. According to your logic, the Tide should have mopped the floor with Utah since they played a tougher schedule that the Utes, right?

In a potential one-game scenario such as a national championship game or a bowl game, it doesn't matter the schedules of the teams in the contest.

Georgia has had the advantage of not playing any of the top three teams in the SEC.

Not only that, Georgia has yet to beat a ranked team. They have feasted on the celler dwellers of the SEC and a very weak Florida team.

What does Cincy losing to Florida two years ago have to do with Boise State prospects in a potential BCS game?

Since some of you are proposing a playoff system where only conference champs can participate, someone else noted that just because you are a conference champ doesn't mean that you are better than a non-champ from another conference. I used the Florida-Cincinnati match-up as a great example. Florida was clearly the 2nd best team in the country that season. Very similar to the LSU and Alabama debate this season. And also to point out how close that very overrated Cincinnati team came to playing for the national title.

I think that was more the case of a young Alabama team not knowing how to handle losing such a big game in the SEC Championship game, and losing one of their best starting OL right before the game. Not to mention they appeared to have cracked under all of the pressure to perform on a big stage.

What are you elitist SEC fan boys scared of? You keep trying to use an example that doesn't fit the situation. I'm pretty sure I can go and cherry pick a bowl game or two that backs up arguments I'm right and everybody else is wrong.

There is no clear best No. 1 or No. 2 or No. 3 team or whatever in the country. Never really has been in the history of college football Why? We've had years were there were multiple unbeaten, one-loss and two-loss teams not afforded the opportunity to play for the national title due to pre-BCS biased, vindictive voters, and their little computer formulas during the BCS era.

An excuse. It figures.

I can agree with that!

Georgia is #15, Penn State is #12, and Arkansas is #8. Say what you will about Georgia and Penn State, but why leave out Arkansas? Alabama beat them by 24 points, while Arkansas beat both #20 Auburn by 24, and #13 South Carolina by 16. You say we're SEC elitists? What conference has won the last 5 BCS championships in a row, and will most likely have a team in the BCS championship game this year too? The SEC can talk the talk because they've walked the walk.

Thank you... that's what they SCREAM on ESPN all the time. Boise State is NOT an independent school. They are in a conference. They have to play the teams in their conference. They have played Oregon, Virginia Tech and Georgia in consecutive opening games and WON them all. What more are they supposed to do?

Virgina Tech is the only major BCS school that I know that opens their season with a major school consistently... even tho I know that the SEC is the best conference, they consistently load up their schedule with the Kent State's, Troy's, MTSU's and Wofford's of the world. YET Boise doesn't play any cupcake Sun Belt or Southland schools and still get talked about

If I played in the SEC, I'd load up with Troy, Kent State and Woffords too. The Big 12 does the same thing......because they already SHOULD have enough tough competition in their own conferences. Boise State does not. That's the point people are making. UNLV, Air Force and all those other teams in their conference suck already which is why people are saying they need to either move to another conference or add other tough teams to their schedule

What on this page says the SEC is scared of anybody? Nothing. I don't care personally about playing Boise State, TCU, Utah and whoever else these new one hit wonders are. Bring 'em on. The issue is this.........you guys don't like the system and I get it, but deal with it...........it's the way it is.......and under the current system, Boise State doesn't have the right things in place to move to the Title game. Is it right or wrong, who knows, but this is the way it is. And I don't believe for one minute that ANYBODY is scared to schedule Boise State in their home. I'd like to see proof of that. VALID proof. If LSU will schedule Oregon and WV neutral and on the road I'm pretty sure they'd schedule Boise State. And I'm sure other schools would too.

EXACTLY!! Use LSU for example. They've played and beaten 6 ranked opponents this year, and they still have a top 10 team left on their schedule. What team in other conferences come close to that?

It's kind of hard for them to play these tough teams when the so call tough teams won't schedule them.

Where's the proof? Oregon scheduled them, Georgia scheduled them? Don't just say it because you want it to be true, proof???

And what you guys forget is this........Let's say LSU beat a Boise in an OOC game..........with the weak schedule they play, ..let's they slip up and lose to UNLV like they did last year.....then how does that make you look.....or if they lose to TCU this year at home or any other team on that weak schedule, then you're screwed because your SOS goes down. At least if I play Oregon, Va Tech, WV, Ohio State or somebody in a better conference, I don't have to risk them losing to Air Force or UNLV or New Mexico State.....etc. You gotta think about the whole picture.

Georgia scheduled them on a neutral field, one-off game, thanks to ESPN. Oregon and other northwest teams have at least been willing to give Boise State a home-and-home series. Nebraska tried to schedule Boise State, but would not meet Boise's valuation for the game, so it was not scheduled. Alabama paid San Jose State a million bucks to visit, and one million is apparently Boise's asking price too. Ohio State paid Colorado $1.4 million for a game, and Nebraska paid the lesser team from Idaho, 800 grand to come visit. If they really wanted Boise to stop by the extra 200 grand would have been offset by playing on national televison.

Boise State slipped up (well, kicker slipped up) and lost to a one-loss Nevada team last year, not UNLV.

Yeah, Nevada, that's right.
