What many folks don't realize is that the SEC last night HAD TWO Top 10 Matchups. Not only was it #1LSU vs. #2Alabama but it was also #9South Carolina vs. #10 Arkansas.
If 75% of your conference remains ranked ESPECIALLY with FOUR TEAMS in the Top 10, that can explain why #2 team with one loss from that same conference dropping one spot.
Not lets flip the coin and look at the Big 12. Really, Oklahoma State is in the Driver's seat to face the SEC Champion in the National Championship (Yes, Yes, I know some of you cannot stand it when we automatically put the SEC in the National Championship Game but hey, it is just that damn good of a conference).
The only real team that stands in Oklahoma State's way is Oklahoma. However, Texas is getting better.
This just goes to the show the power of a STRONG CONFERENCE. In the SEC, you just never know who will be the next team to represent the SEC in the National Championship.

The BCS expert Brad Edwards said as the season winds downs voters will begin to vote for teams who they want to see in the national championship game as opposed to who probably deserves to be in the national championship game.

Don't worry about it, if Stanford beats Oregon and Notre Dame, they will jump Alabama.

Everyone talked about how the SEC is great because they've won the last five national championship. Rightfully so they should get the benefit of the doubt as a result of that.
However, I wonder what would have happened if one of those SEC teams played USC in the national championship game instead . America was robbed of that. Screw a rematch with Bama and LSU. If Oregon don't get a rematch with LSU if they should win-out, why should Bama?

USC had some great teams in the early to mid-2000s. Tough to pick one.

Damn, if LSU and Bama both win out and are picked to play in the championship game, the Tide would be the first team to be in game without winning their conference crown or even division title. No way a rematch happens. You can't let a team in the title game who can't even win their own division.

It can happen, I'm an SEC fan and don't wanna see a rematch though. But Stanford slips up, OK State slips up and Bama wins out, then it will happen. They won't put Boise ahead of a 1 loss Bama. I'd like to see Boise play LSU for the title though. I think that would be the best Championship match-up. I think they've give a better game than Stanford.
Here is another question: How did Arkansas fall one spot after beating a ranked South Carolina team by more than 10, but Oregon moved up after beating an unranked Washington team? I did not watch the BCS Countdown last night, but did they give an explanation for this?

Alabama being ahead of Stanford, I didn't expect but with computers making the caculations, it's not a shock. Boise State not moving don't surprise me with them playing Nevada this past weekend.

Also, Stanford barely beat a weakend USC team in triple overtime. They won't won't beat Oregon.
Does Alabama deserve a re-match? In my opinion - no, because of the way they played. But I believe they're gonna get one, and I'm not complaining. :lol:

Yep. Not only that, but the BCS loves to talk about how the regular season is its own playoff system, that every game counts.

I must disagree with you on this because of the the fact that if Bama ends the season as the #2 team in the country then BY ALL RIGHTS they should be in the national championship game--remember when LSU got into the national title game with TWO LOSSES!

LSU won the SEC championship, though. That's why they still were able to play for the national title with two losses. LSU and Bama both win out, the Tide shouldn't play in the BCS title game.
Arkansas gained on Oregon in the human polls, but Oregon gained more on Arkansas in the computer polls. Basically, teams that were ranked behind Arkansas and ahead of Oregon by the computers lost (South Carolina, Nebraska and Kansas State), so Oregon moved up in all the computer polls by a much larger margin than Arkansas did (who actually moved past Stanford from 7th to 6th in the computer polls this week).

USC fell off big time after Vince Young and Texas beat them in the Rose Bowl. The SEC control of the national championship didn't start until the 2006-2007 football season with Florida's destruction of Ohio State. That was right when USC started to cool off.
