Terence Graves Calls Out "Celebrity" Coaching Hires

Not per say but someone to bring excitement to Huntsville. Teddy Bridgewater reached out also. I know what A&M needs and so I'm not particularly caught up in other schools. We need someone to get folks involved so whatever it takes for that to happen is my view. Huntsville is a different kind of place so unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do.
Huntsville is black bourgeois - your the Alabama version of prairie view in terms of types of black students you attract and the show doesn't do the city any favors 🤣 waiting for the dawn brown cameo

Profound and correct.....they use us to advance so that they can be used against us again!!!

The lying & attacking of HBCUs to promote & defend the celebrity athlete they worship has already began. Jeff Lightly who allegedly broke the D. Jackson hire just spoke with Dr. Boyce Watkins & several times( at least 4) claims on a national platform that Delaware State is such a worthless bottom feeder that they are selling 6 season tickets next year for $25 dollars each & " a family of 3 would spend more at McDonald's ". Already denigrating & mocking D State with lies.

( 31 minute mark)

For anyone with a lick of common sense they realize the $25 is for a deposit & DSU's website regular tickets were $350 for 5 games last season & aren't on sale yet for next season. The denigration & mockery of Delaware State has begun to convince us that they should be happy to touch the hem of D. Jackson's garments because they are so worthless. Same as the narrative being set that our hero Vick turned down $50 million of NIL to come save his poor Black folk at Norfolk when Sacramento dismissed the story.

Ashley Robinson was one of them. Known today as AD Robinson
Elvis was good , D'Jamel, Solomon Forbes, we can go back in time when there was a jackson kid on every team in the swac who could play

Forbes scored damn near 30 on pv in the first half one night as they shot the orange out the ball 🤣 - that same team got bounced in the first round unfortunately

Yep we had alot of talent in Jackson back then unfortunately it's not the same no longer.

Mr. excitement himself Teddy " 2 gloves". I doubt most would pay to see him play let alone stand on the sidelines. "Gotta do what you gotta do" is a far cry from " HBCU Pride".

If you're talking about someone like Reed I am now convinced that A&M never seriously considered this guy & may at worst given him some courtesy audience. It's an old tactic in coaching with your " people" continuously leaking these stories & rumors to keep your name out there & make it appear you are some legit hot commodity. He's already flat lied on Roland Martin's show that " Prime offered him the HC job at J State" & probably lied about Gram offering him their HC spot as well.

Hopefully the SWAC has moved on.

I see you are paying close attention and pretty much on point with most of your posts. 😆 😆 😆

It's nothing new to hire NFL guys, but hiring guys as HC with no prior coaching experience on any level is.

Wait, Desean just completed his first season of high school coaching.

Woodrow Wilson HS
In 2024, Jackson was hired as the offensive coordinator for Woodrow Wilson Classical High School.

Delaware State
On December 27, 2024, Jackson was named the head football coach at Delaware State University.

The thing many people overlook is the years and gradual climb Prime took in his coaching journey. Although HBCU(s) afforded him the opportunity to become degreed and coaching on the collegiate level he at least paid some dues. Many of these so called celebrity coaches aren’t as charismatic as Prime and haven’t paid any dues. That’s one coach I can’t hate on. Perhaps one day he will even win a bowl game. 😆 😆 😆 Lawd, BYU was chasing after Shedeur like he was a runaway slave. 😆 😆😆

I'm going to say this and leave it alone. I think Sam Shade will be a great coach and has shown he can build programs. He is a Alabama native so that will help him. With that being said I think Shade was the safe hire and we went that route. I don't know how that will relate to recruiting on this FCS level but he has proven he can get in state talent which is a good because let's be real it comes down to money and how to spend it. I'm an engineer first so I always look at the financial side and cost first. In state tuition is cheaper than out of state. Which allows you to spend for instance instead of 25K on one athlete for out of state you can Spend that on two students split 12.5k a piece. It also allows you to go after that quality athlete from out of state because you got two in state guys for the price of one. So now you can go to Florida and get the Star you need at the skill position. Although having flash and excitement would have been nice for a change in Huntsville I'm not going to lie I understand the business side too.
THANK YOU. This has been a real issue with AAMU sports over the years. Coaches with no pull around here and having to load up rosters with out of state folks...with ALREADY REDUCED scholarships...then losing them to transfer or being ran off to cut budgets.

Not just Jackson , but I'ved worked in the Flowood & Pearl areas for years & I was really a little surprised at how much Bball talent that came out of the state. I sat with coworkers for a few minutes once calling out the great ballers from Ms. Black America has the most talent in the country & its completely controlled by White schools who make Billions off them.

Yes. Shade put in his time at all levels & had historic national success at Miles. So this isn't just a HBCU purity test & " hating" of ex NFL players . No problem with the hires of Shade & T. Jackson. My guy Keaton is on deck if he can sustain that success & excitement he's bought to CAU.

I assume you mean Valley is thinking of removing the interim tag & sticking with Williams?

Ivory better be worried about his primary job as bad as we've looked the past 2 seasons against D1 schools. Removing that interim tag would be a disaster for someone who got fired from UNA and made Valley's defense take a major stepback in 2024. At least we know Whitehead (former Amandy Elzy star/Auburn player/NFL player) interviewed for the job so it's not set in stone

If we were to hire a real AD, he's gone

Har har hardy har!! 😂 😂 😅
But Mo Williams will be running SWAC MBB very soon.

But he wouldn't seriously talk to a HBCU like the thousands of other Black athletes that herd themselves off like sheep to White schools. I've heard Mo & Eddie George both begging for fans to come to their games which blows their star struck fans arguments out of the water. "They will bring fan excitement, eyes , connections & magical resources to save us". We disrepect ourselves & loyal coaches who faithfully put in the time for decades for a famous pro athlete who thinks our schools are beneath them.

Im not too familiar with Whitehead , but what has he done to garner serious attention as a HC?

Other than playing in the league...Not sure Whitehead has any coaching experience. I read he is currently a finance guy for a company in ATL.

McNair may be a better option for Valley. (Not sure of the interest from either side)

Once again were any of the SWAC school trying to get them? When they were in high school?

Also if they were- how many former or at the time current players told them to NOT come to a HBCU. Because I know of some former players who do that. Who say if you are looking at a shot at the pros, playing playoff games and being on tv-you go PWI.
If you want to play for the love of the game, get your degree and experience a HBCU-then go for it.

Coaching can't fix that attitude.

Mo and them bring attention to the schools. Now how it goes from there is another issue.

ER Jr. didn't have any experience either and it's working for him

Whitehead is a local product from Elzy (Greenwood) who recently played in the NFL that people recognize. And he is familiar with Valley so he is willing to take on the unique situation that is Valley

Valley doesn't need an Ed Reed but definitely need a semi-splash hire that can gets the base energized. Whitehead could do that

Everything that Coach Graves has said appears to have gone over some folks head. The most athletically gifted people in this country completely controlled by White colleges making billions off of them. . HBCUs have been around long before & long after these people decided to go over & touch the hem of white folks garments, but now we should be honored that they even want to speak to HBCU's( since most cant get significant jobs with White schools now )?

The hero worship of these athletes is mind-boggling .

This is a complete straw man argument since I'm a Gramblinite who knows that coach Rob Sr. had no coaching experience either. Graves made a larger argument that some seem to be ignoring & completely straying away from. Graves nor anyone who cares about the SWAC would begrudge Valley if Jerry Rice ( an alum with serious skins in the game) wanted to coach, but it would be cool if he'd just put in a couple years. It's intellectually dishonest to call Rob Jr. ( skins in the game) a celebrity when he would have to prove to most people that he actually played in the NFL, but it would be nice if he had put in a couple years someplace & respected the game.

Has the athlete hero worship gotten so desperate that HBCU'S would just hand over jobs to someone like this to Whitehead who would never come to our schools? I googled him & think Auburn would be a better fit.

Has he ever supported Valley in any capacity? Being local and all

Whitehead has never coached lol

folks don't know the dynamics at ASU as the president and Rob go way back - that was a calculated hire
