Though funny, he certainly belongs on that list. I would remove “highly successful” from the title of the list though as it can be misleading.

There is nothing new about it though. Schools have been doing it for decades.Celebrity Hires are not going anywhere. It’s the new standard.
They were all celebrity hires, at least some of them had some coaching experience when they were hired.None of these dudes are celebrities. Closest one is Hue Jackson and he SUCKED in the NFL. Lol!!
Agreed, I unfairly included him due to lack of coaching experience.I don’t include Eddie Robinson Jr in the Celebrity Coach category due to him returning to his Alma Mater. In his case, I think his Alma Mater reached out and he answered the call.
It's nothing new to hire NFL guys, but hiring guys as HC with no prior coaching experience on any level is.There is nothing new about it though. Schools have been doing it for decades.
Mo Williams a celebrity? He sent me a friend request and I deleted it.HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL CELEBRITY HIRES
(add as you will)
Hue Jackson
Stump Mitchell
Mo Williams
Monte Coleman
Bubba McDowell
These folks just be talking, mane. Don't nobody but hardcore NFL heads know who Monte Coleman and Bubba McDowell were. Deion Sanders was a national icon for multiple decades and had a reality show post retirement lol.Mo Williams a celebrity? He sent me a friend request and I deleted it.
To be honest you are right. Add FAMU , Gram & SC State. it does appear SWAC schools especially are a bit wary after the Ed Reed debacle at BCU. We'll see with these last 2 hires at Valley & A&M. Respect to Graves for firing this shot though & defending loyal HBCU alums & coaches overall.
Following Chenis Berry model, Shade will bring with him over half of his SIAC championship team with him to the Hill.I'm going to say this and leave it alone. I think Sam Shade will be a great coach and has shown he can build programs. He is a Alabama native so that will help him. With that being said I think Shade was the safe hire and we went that route. I don't know how that will relate to recruiting on this FCS level but he has proven he can get in state talent which is a good because let's be real it comes down to money and how to spend it. I'm an engineer first so I always look at the financial side and cost first. In state tuition is cheaper than out of state. Which allows you to spend for instance instead of 25K on one athlete for out of state you can Spend that on two students split 12.5k a piece. It also allows you to go after that quality athlete from out of state because you got two in state guys for the price of one. So now you can go to Florida and get the Star you need at the skill position. Although having flash and excitement would have been nice for a change in Huntsville I'm not going to lie I understand the business side too.
This is it!!!Graves better get off these radio shows and fire the OC of his and start over on the Offensive side. I don't care what any other school is doing. Worry about your job.
Well AAMU seems to have got it right with hiring Shade
I'm praying and hoping Valley doesn't hire who is being rumored because it would have alums wanting the heads of everyone involved. If you weren't sold on Wade, you sure as hell don't hire anyone off his staff

I think that is the model to follow, but it seems to be getting overlooked by some Athletic Directors. I expect Tremaine Jackson to bring some players from his Championship Finals team to PV.Following Chenis Berry model, Shade will bring with him over half of his SIAC championship team with him to the Hill.

It worked for Berry and SC State and Teddy Keeton at Clark ATL.I think that is the model to follow, but it seemsi to be getting overlooked by some Athletic Directors. I expect Tremaine Jackson to bring some players from his Champion Finals team to PV.
The hiring of Williams was a bad hire for Bama State. Our program has yet to recover. He used us at our expense to get his dream job at JSU.Coleman and McDowell was already there on staff and was known locally but not the national presence sanders had - playing in the NFL wasn't a factor
Alabama State hiring Mo Williams was trying to capitalize on that fame
Maynor was a top D2 coach at the time also
That's his personality. The hiring of Williams was a bad hire for Bama State. Our program has yet to recover. He used us at our expense to get his dream job at JSU.

I went to school with peanut aka Maurice "Mo" Williams. Andy Stoglin recruited Mo but Mo told Andy he was better than JSU, so Coach Andy focused on Tommy Hunter, Lindsey Hunter younger brother.Dream job at JSU , but he would have never dreamed of playing at J State or another SWAC school. Looking for a job oppurtunity & now he's our homeboy, ex McDonald's All American , NBA Champion/ All star & played with Lebron & has these magical" resources" / connections lined up & we're supposed to roll out the red carpet. Now he has to consistently convince kids to come to schools that were beneath him.
Madlock stabilizing things?
Not per say but someone to bring excitement to Huntsville. Teddy Bridgewater reached out also. I know what A&M needs and so I'm not particularly caught up in other schools. We need someone to get folks involved so whatever it takes for that to happen is my view. Huntsville is a different kind of place so unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do.If you're talking about someone like Reed I am now convinced that A&M never seriously considered this guy & may at worst given him some courtesy audience. It's an old tactic in coaching with your " people" continuously leaking these stories & rumors to keep your name out there & make it appear you are some legit hot commodity. He's already flat lied on Roland Martin's show that " Prime offered him the HC job at J State" & probably lied about Gram offering him their HC spot as well.
Hopefully the SWAC has moved on.
That's when Jackson had ballas dropping out the sky - how valley got that talent from Jackson still made me wonderI went to school with peanut aka Maurice "Mo" Williams.
