UAPB came back to the SWAC in 1997 (our probate year), so I'm a little fuzzy and might be thinking of those '93, '94, '95, and '96 games. Does anyone know if a 9-game mandate was in place in the earlier years of the 2000 decade? I'm asking because I know in 2004 we (UAPB) didn't play Southern or Alcorn. I know we played them '97-2001. We had a 9-game mandate (I believe) those years and I wondered why we didn't for 2004.

Back to the topic, I'm glad the SCG is back; it would've been nice if my folks played in Houston but hopefully we'll make it back to Birmingham again. I'm still wanting a re-match against AAMU.

Surprised nobody said this earlier in the thread

@96lioness prior to the additions of UAPB and AAMU, the SWAC played a 7-game schedule since it had eight teams.

The SWAC went back and forth with the schedule so much since 2000 that it’s somewhat painful to recap.

I will still say the 9-game schedule severely hurt the competiveness of our member schools via isolation.

Yes, it's flip-flopped so much. (bolded statement) I like us (UAPB) playing our conference schools; however, I do like the idea of playing more non-conference schools. I'm not saying our conference schools don't, but a lot of times our OOC opponents push us and have a tendency to make us more competitive......at least it was during the mid-2000 year decade. So a 7-game mandate does make sense. It just feels weird (to me) not playing everyone in conference.

Since your football program does not have a SWAC Championship winning tradition you don't understand the term "GRAMBLINGHAM."

Beans you know good and damn well (as the old folks say) why....Grambling has more SWAC Championships in Birmingham than any SWAC prorgram. Hence Gramblingham.....but thank you for admitting we will be in the Celebration Bowl.....LOL

yeah I wasnt tryna hear that...lol BUT since its a one year deal, it makes sense. I didnt think the SWAC would enter a long term agrement without a commish.

But that is why we need a good Commish. NRG should never have less than around 40K.

You cant name a city after you and your fans dont show up. That's like Valley beating GSU every year at Robinson and calling it Valley Stadium. You cant claim a stadium without taking over. 5 fans wont cut it. Gramblingham never existed just lost Lostober and Sweptember never existed.

LOSStober was created specifically for jsu....Gramblingham was given that title because we won the most championships....you know this...stop acting like *rump!!!!

You know good and damn well Gramblingham, Losstober, and Sweptember exist....
