What the hell does black professionals have to do with being undisciplined?
Im talking on the field. A kid cost his team the game in the championship because he wanted to celebrate. Im not saying that doesn't happen with the big boys, but its the biggest game of your season and you have to know better
I'm tired of you blaming that kid. How about NCCU's special teams offensive line did not execute their blocks properly so that GSU would not have blocked the extra point.
Or
How about NCCU's coaches did not have the faith in their offense to go for a 2 point conversion.
Bama St prolly needs to drop to D-2 since they cannot beat a d-2 skegee team and since the SWAC W runs up and through them annually. Couldn't agree w/ you more. Bama St should go d-2.
There it is ^^^^^^^^^. Substantiation for that rank attitude. Do we need to start a petition to send Bama St back to d-2?I wouldn't have a problem with that. Would be nice to see Bama State play at Albany or FVSU some years.
Before the TD, Grambling only had given up 33 yards of offense in the second half. Trying a 2-point conversion from the 18-yard line would have been a low percentage play.
LOL Dude actually said he wrote a letter to the Celebration Bowl committee with suggestions about how to raise attendance and he can't even get his own school to sell out a 22k stadium lolThinking doesn't ever come into play they're just attempting to win an argument to support THEIR position that they are right and than when that realize they can't escape the fact that they aren't right they'll say something childish like "I know that" ROTFLMBAO ! !!!
Man I was reading one go off about the attendance on a post of mines on FB and no matter what data people came up with he was convince we could have P5 numbers the second year of this event and that we were just simple ole colored folks settling .
When I found out that fool was from sTu (no shades) I drop my tablet on the floor and went to the restroom to take a shit. True story .
I disagree completely. I think the quality of the game was rather stellar (would have been better if not for the officials). It was a DEFENSIVE battle on both sides of the ball. We are all entitled to our opinions, but some of us....scratch that....some of you tend to appear rather simplistic when making a comment on the "quality" of the game just because the teams didn't score over 60 points. You can get mad at dude but he isn't lying one bit lol. The quality of play was pretty terrible but an OK game nonetheless.
Most will agree JSU, SU, Bama schools, FAMU, SCSU gonna be the best draws....But long term this game can't be dependent on that as you will get other matchups. If the MEAC, SWAC as well, want this game have the conference leaders, presidents and ADs implemented a real set of plans for all member schools to market this game and sell tix with their respective communities? Not trying to be funny but how many people outside of Grambling and NCCU folks can say their athletics departments have really tried to brand and sell the game? The ideal matchup attendance wise would be SU vs FAMU and Jsu vs SCSU & Vice Versa
Once again. Your points would be very valid if this were for the SWAC Championship Game, but believe me when I tell you -- and I can't stress this point enough -- ESPN (remember they own this game) DOESN'T CARE about attendance. I know it's a hard thing to fathom, but believe me when I tell you it is true.
In fact, I'm going to prove this point this week on the podcast with a quote from a Celebration Bowl official. Your months will drop when you hear it.
I agree. But that's not unique to SWAC fans. Fans equate exciting football to high scores. Remember a few years ago when LSU and Bama (the top 2 teams in the country at the time) went to OT with LSU winning 9-6. A lot of folks thought that game was "boring" because it was a defensive battle. I didn't. Just like I didn't think Saturday's game was boring.I disagree completely. cant wait for the podcast..I can believe it though. It seems like their main goal is to promote HBCUs, no matter what the attendance is, which is dope.
Would love to see FAMU there next year vs SU, Bama St or Jackson.
ATL is full of FAMU and Bama St ppl and SU travels everywhere. That would help the game grown tremendously.

Nope, it ain't got nothing to do with with (sincerely) trying to promote HBCUs. HBCUs are just a niche market that ESPN is trying to exploit for the purpose of ratings.
You guys need to understand that ESPN is in the TV business. The primary goal is to get people to watch their content from home, NOT at the stadiums. Think I'm lying? Click on this link ----> http://espnevents.com/ Click on the football link and count the number of bowl games ESPN owns. There are 41 postseason bowl games on the slate. ESPN owns 13 of them. Four of them (including the CB) kicked-off day one.

That's essentially what ESPN wants. All ESPN wants is decent participation from the schools involved. They are not concerned with having 50-60K people in the stands like the rest.So let's keep this ball rolling with 30k or more in attendance each year along with solid ratings on TV.
I think the proper perspective is that it's just YEAR 2. If the ratings hold I think that satisfies a big requirement but being billed as a national championship this should also be a platform for black college growth. So I think attendance is very important.
Another box to check is putting a competitive product on the field two years in a row.

Bewildered, Jag89
I guess yall can't state much to debate the points that atl hornet is stating, so yall choose to divert and make this about Bama State.
smh

In the same thread you point out the big difference between the budget of a JMU and a Gram (same division), but when somebody suggests that we consider playing in a division with schools with similar budgets as ours, yall dismiss the suggestion so quickly. What (else) is there to state? I gave him his own words right back to him and he cannot accept what he was attempting to substantiate. I'll go a step farther. JMU's football budget is 6.5M. Is GSU's entire athletic budget a smidget over 6.5M$? He drew the initial comparison, not I. Return to the thread and read the entire flow. He attempted to compare football operations/competitivity of a 22K+ enrollment school vs one that is ~4.8K smh. And, good luck in Bama St's quest to return to D-II, since some of your alums feel you belong there to battle mighty FVSU, Tuskegee, et al.![]()
