Some of us are competitive.
That's great. But you posted about the difference in budget and the difference in enrollment.

If your desire is to play down w/ those @ your perceived level,
The way you look "down" at a Fort Valley and Albany is "funny" . But please don't fool yourself into thinking that you're closer to the "aTm's and Michigans of the world than you are to the Ft. Valleys and Albanys.

Nope, it ain't got nothing to do with with (sincerely) trying to promote HBCUs. HBCUs are just a niche market that ESPN is trying to exploit for the purpose of ratings.

You guys need to understand that ESPN is in the TV business. The primary goal is to get people to watch their content from home, NOT at the stadiums. Think I'm lying? Click on this link ----> http://espnevents.com/ Click on the football link and count the number of bowl games ESPN owns. There are 41 postseason bowl games on the slate. ESPN owns 13 of them. Four of them (including the CB) kicked-off day one.

That's the bottom line as far as ESPN is concerned. That's why our "bad" football is still on TV getting promoted while big time FCS schools like SHSU, Montana or JSU can only get on TV via deep runs into the FCS Playoffs. If ESPN could find a way to get another FCS bowl they could (and those FCS conferences would leave the FCS playoffs in a heartbeat if they could get a deal like the CB).

The attendance thing is good for smack reasons lol I will agree that it just looks bad on TV like it did Saturday. I went to the SU/Valley game last year in Itta Bena that was on ESPNU. Home side was packed out but some was saying how bad it looked on TV because the visitors side had such few fans

Think what you may and that's your right.

I know what I said and I mean it, precisely. Enjoy Bama St's time back down to D-II, where you all obviously belong. Obviously. :D

What (else) is there to state? I gave him his own words right back to him and he cannot accept what he was attempting to substantiate. I'll go a step farther. JMU's football budget is 6.5M. Is GSU's entire athletic budget a smidget over 6.5M$? He drew the initial comparison, not I. Return to the thread and read the entire flow. He attempted to compare football operations/competitivity of a 22K+ enrollment school vs one that is ~4.8K smh. And, good luck in Bama St's quest to return to D-II, since some of your alums feel you belong there to battle mighty FVSU, Tuskegee, et al. :)

I remembered when Bama State joined the SWAC in 1984. If their people believe that D2 was better for them, they should have stayed D2 or moved back down to D2 like WSSU did. It's just that simple. It's sad when folks think their school would be better off competing on the D2 level, but want every school in the SWAC conference which was FCS prior to them joining to follow their lead to the D2 level. What they don't realize, they are probably the only ones in the conference who seek to re-start an annual rivalry with the likes of FVSU and Tuskegee.

Here's a thought, why not Bama State leave the SWAC and re-join D2 SIAC and become the example that other schools in the SWAC MIGHT follow. Not all schools have to drop down to D2 at the same time. I'm sure WSSU is the perfect example for MEAC schools.

ummm,
Maybe yall have convinced yourselves that what yall post on a message board is the official position of your school, but I haven't. I only speak for myself.

I never proposed such a move. See, I can listen and understand, and even may disagree with what someone is saying without attempting to belittle them (or things related to them) all because they have a different opinion than mine.

Happy Holidays!

SU has only played Tuskegee 11 times and the last time they played each other was in 1979.

And we have only played FVSU two times.

Man I think I've told this story before but it bares hearing again. One day I drop by my uncles tire shop in South Baton Rouge to hang out because I hadn't seen him in awhile.

While I was there I notice a customer walking around waiting for his tires to be change a d he had on a zebra top so I went over to strike up a conversation with him. Just as I expected he was an official and he told me that he now officiated for the sunbelt, southland and a few swac games .

Talking with him further I found out that he was originally from Alabama and that he started out working D2 games. I mention to him that the Alabama schools seem to be moving in the right direction and that it shouldn't be long before A&M catch up with State.

He sort of chuckled and said "Yeah they sort of thought that they would be able to come in a win a few championship right away and I told them that it wasn't going to be as easy as folks make it out to be playing in the swac. They found out the hard way." True story lol
