But the SWAC West Champ fans got so cocky about a certain SCG win and stayed home and it almost cost them with no fan support. Now Gram fans better pack out the Georgia Dome and not embarrass the SWAC being a no show and let NCCU fans outnumber you. Just saying.

If Grambling had lost that game, it sure as hell wouldn't have been because of lack of "fan support". At SWAC (HBCU) games, large crowds look good on TV and pictures, but when it comes to the actual games, they are non-factors because they don't know how to cheer at games. I give SU and JSU fan mad props for showing up to games, but truth be told the fans have little impact on the actual game. There may be exceptions from time to time, but for the most part....no.

I'd rather have the team show up than the fans cause if they play like they played today...

What 12 teams are you talking about? I don't care about any other bowl games. There is only 1 FCS bowl game and the rules for FBS teams don't apply to the CB (as it relates to .500 or sub .500 teams)

And I'm not sure I understand that part in bold. What am I suppose to know "that isn't true".

First of all there are no rules for fcs owl games we only havery one. I simply meant the attendance from gram wasn't going to be any different with any other schools because the reality is gram fans simply couldn't imagine losing so more than likely they book space for the ATL and kept the money for that or they simply aren't going to extend themselves just to support their school even though they love to boast about how they love dear ole Grambling

we still won and we still going. It is a lot of critics but all your teams are at home. If you want to change it then tell your team to beat us or just attend the game. Hell a close win or a blow out is still sending us to Atlanta for the game we want to see and not an 5-5 Alcorn team. If attendance bothers you guys that much then how about more of you attend the game?

You sound like a fawkin idiot
Wow I sound like an idiot says the most envious guy of GSU. Every time you post you have something negative to say about GSU. You are a true hater. Hell all you do is talk about what if and stuff. You talked about posting all these screenshots and saves but I have seen none. Quit being a critic because your true hate shows on every post. We beat your team by over 20 points and you talking about what needs to be done. You need to worry about being able to play in a celebration bowl and beating GSU. All you do is hate. Do you ever give any props? Blue Puppy you are a true HATER.

And you are worrying because? We are still going so who cares how we won. We could have won by one but you can't blame people for not being interested in seeing a 5-5 Alcorn team when they can watch it at home.

1. This isn't Facebook. Trying to smack because someone spoke the truth doesn't work on this board.

2. Don't have your fans bragging about already booked for Houston last month and then not show up. I'm reasonable enough to know that the ATL excuse (because that's what it is) is a legitimate one but that doesn't mean that it looks bad that a 5-5 team more than doubled the fans of the 9-1 team and it showed on TV (same as last year). The rain forecast was the biggest factor in keeping people away from the game

3. As a lot of people have said for years on here, it's not the job of a visitor to pack out YOUR game that your team is involved in.

I know the Celebration Bowl will have more SWAC alums than MEAC because we are like that but as @JR said you sure as hell better not show up like you did the SCG

Number 3 is my point. It's not your guys job to fill the stadium but you worry about the attendance. Why worry about it if it had nothing to do with your team. All I see is other schools complain about attendance and not really the schools that actually played. Most GSU fans have already made trips to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl and spent lots of money at the fair and then you had the big game in New Orleans that was a couldn't miss. So you are telling me that we are suppose to travel to Houston for a team that hasn't gave us any reason to be eager to see the game and possibly miss the Celebration Bowl. People use reasonable thinking and we weren't wrong. Seems like all the schools that didn't play have all the issues. I guess when you have as much success as we have over the past year people tend to jump on anything to down you.

Right. I said the same thing in my first sentence. The same rules don't apply.

Again, we are saying the same thing. I agree with this. Perceived match-ups matter. Grambling folks (and Alcorn folks to some degree) assumed GSU was going to win this game. Thus, they decided not to buy a ticket to this game. The Grambling folks hedged their bets and took a wait and see approach with the intent to buy a ticket for the CB.

I don't disagree with you.

Fans do have impact on games. Bayou Classic 1999 is a prime example. Once SU started coming back, SU fans made so much noise, it effected Gram. Also SU/JSU 97. That's why Jsu opens the gates on SU side a hour before the game no lol.

Houston would have been Blue and Gold if SU would have made it.

You probably correct about that. What I'm saying is you have a team that just won the SCG and having a great season and people are talking about attendance. I know it's not great with the outcome of the fans but it seems like some people talk about this more than the game itself. I mean it's over and you can't change that so can we get on to the next thing.

The fact that you had to go back to the 1997 and 1999, proves my point. It is all subjective, but I also said in my previous post that "there may be exceptions from time to time, but for the most part....no."

Welcome to the Scg attendance thread. Lol.

I went to the game. Me personally I just feel You take care of home first. The SWAC IS OUR HOME. I know folks geared up for Atlanta and that's fine but take care of Your HOME first. Support YOUR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP First. What if homeboy catches both passes for TDs then Folks cancelling flights.

To each his or her own but I rather support my conference championship before the bowl game.

Fyi...........Those kids feed off crowd support and sometimes o l Mo' can do strange things to a team

All very valid points. And while I am a G-Man ( a proud one at that) I have no problem in being honest in saying that Grambling fans (as it relates to numbers) are not the best fans in the conference and not the worst. We are somewhere in the middle. We are fickle as hell. I have some idea why that is, but will not bother to go into it now. And furthermore, it's no excuse. We showed up at the BC, but didn't at the SCG...time will tell what happens with the CB.

I can respect this. That's all I ask for is honesty. If some of the people on here say that Alcorn more than doubled Grambling as far as fans at the SCG, I would take their word over the Facebook posts due to most being somewhat neutral most of the time compared to blind fandom).

I hope Kincaid goes to ATL and shows out on national TV and shuts up those MEAC people for a year

I try to limit my contribution to FB, but are there some people on there actually saying that Grambling fans outnumber Alcorn? If that is the case, Alcorn fans outnumbered Grambing fans this year, last year, AND outnumbered SU fans two year ago.

That's the truth.

Nah brotha

Alcorn was there, but they didn't out-number SU folks, that's where I have to stop you.

They barely out-number SU when we go to Alcorn, if you don't believe me, SU filled their vistor side and had a lot of fans on their home side, plus SU had the bleachers in the end zone packed. So now Alcorn has more fans than SU?? and you talking about Houston for a SCG? stop it bro...

Alcorn, being that it was their 1st time in the SCG brought fans, but they didn't out-number SU fans that year

Southern. Only reason why you guys would bring more fans is for the simple fact that everyone would have know it would be your last game. See at GSU we have eligibility so we had to choose this or the Celebration bowl. You guys would have no choice.

SU would have packed Houston and ATL (ATL being if SU could go)

Those two places SU travels well.

I admit you guys travel well but dang it seems like people take this more serious than the game. We just had the SCG and attendance is the number one topic and most of it is from schools that didn't even attend. Man I'm just trying to enjoy the win.

I guess we'll get to hear Jay 'Sky' Walker for one more time this season telling us how good the BBQ was at the Magic City Classic and how fine the Honey Bees looked to him.o_O I believe him and Dr. Boyd might have attended the same church in PG County, Maryland.

No harm with that

I think folks just want this game to be well attended, especially since it's being broadcast on TV.

I mean I would have felt some type of way if SU fans didn't come out to support the team in the ship game.

shruggs

Well, anything is possible...I guess. But why settle for a 4th place team when you can have a 1st place team?

One could argue that the SCG suffered (attendance wise) because it featured a 5-5 SWAC East champion.

Really? How about your fans just show up.
