A fun debate.

Last year's attendance was 40,352. Will this year's game surpass that mark?

What do you all think?

If what I am seeing so far on the Ticketmaster website is any kind of indicator of ticket sales, I'm led to believe this game will NOT do it. I voted no.

No. If Alcorn came in the game with one SWAC loss (to GSU) then there would be some hype about this game. Many of the people I know are making reservations to go to ATL and not even thinking about going to Houston.

Fobbs and the team got to Houston yesterday evening.

In an odd twist, shsu is hosting chattanooga in round II playoff action @ 4pm in huntsvegas. If those ticket prices are above 12$, I'll freak out.

The weather starts to go downhill Today through Monday. It is 90% chance of rain Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Yall be safe.. I am sitting this one out. But I will watch from the comforts of my sofa in Northwest Houston.. LOL

I'm not sure if it is because there is no concert attached to this years game like past years, but I'm not feeling the vibe from the community like past years. You had all the Swac schools getting in and wanting to come to Houston to see the game unlike when it was ever played in Alabama.

Maybe folks saving up to go to Atlanta for the CB. I'll be at the game tomorrow but I don't see it getting more than 25K. I think the BC took it out of most folks hands where they have to decide on that game, the SCG & the CB. The Grambling fans are probably putting their money on going to the CB over the SCG since they went thru the conference undefeated.

Economics wins out...

I thought the weather factor is why the SWAC fans wanted it moved to Houston inside a comfortable dome?

Yeah, no one wants to play and sit out in that bad arse weather they seem to have in Alabama this time of year. Raining outside and playing and sitting inside is so much better. Remember a few years ago we had that ice storm come thru and folks that made it enjoyed the game atmosphere inside a cosy covered stadium.

Alcorn fans will show up only if they think they can win. They know Gambling will win this game deep down inside. I will say 30k which is still decent. Gambling will have more fans at the game this year. To CEE and the rest of the BAMAS....Doing anything in Houston is better than anything in Birmingham. The weather plus Birmingham is not a good city at all except for the locals who have some type of ties to the city. The game is better in Houston bottom line

Sure hope they purchase refundable tickets.

Well, it's still too early to tell just yet, but I think it still all comes down to matchup. The teams involved matter. This is not a shot at the Braves, but to have a 5-5 team enter the SCG...that just isn't sexy on the surface.

another Houston jag...lol

The concert SHOULD not affect the game since they are both separate events and Mary J fans will buy in advance but you know "us"

Yessir! lol

The concert should be cool. I am not a fan of MJB, but it should be nice.

The only problem with what you just said was that it wasn't anyone from Bama who said anything about the weather. I just commented on folks who said the attendance was going to be low because of the weather this year. Lol Obviously some people who said they loved the indoor weather and Houston lied. Lol Just saying. Lol

Well obviously somebody is telling a lie. If the same folks who said Bama weather and Houston was so live ain't showing up something ain't right. Just saying.......

One thing about a lie is it will be told. It doesn't care how its told but it will be told. Wasn't it a song that went "something, something, something something just ain't right. ~snicker~

Cee, a lot of black folks aint coming out in the rain whether the game is inside or out. But obviously more will go to this game since it is inside vs if the game was outside. Secondly, B-ham just never embraced the game. I went to 3 SCGs in Bham and 2 in Houston. And the atmosphere in the city is just different. Just more of a SWAC city because more SWAC alums from different schools live there. Matchups will always play a factor in these games. But I do think since the game is in Houston it is more attractive overall than B-ham. Just think if Alcorn and Gram were playing in Bham this weekend.

Also I think it is good for the players who get to play in a NFL stadium.

It was just time for a change from Bham. The love is only given to ASU and AAMU for the MCC. After that, the community could care less about the SWAC. That's deep SEC territory. Soon the SWAC office will be going to Houston. The Houston Mayor is lobbying for it.

Folk don't wanna walk/drive in bad weather to get anywhere ... regardless of whether the facility is indoors or outdoors...

But the SCG and basketball tournaments have more a big-league feel in NRG and the Toyota Center.
