Hopson going after Simmons!

Then Lord Help the SWAC if there is no Competition and the Celebration Bowl starts to become One-Sided like the SWAC-MEAC Challenge.

No this is bad for the SWAC...

If there is no competition in the SWAC, we probably won't get the best out of our Coaches and Players. Competition Breeds Improvement.

But if there is no competition, we will revert back to our 2005-2012 Era in SWAC Football. SWAC Football nearly died during that time period. Coaches will be able to get by with 6-7 wins a Season and still get pay raises.

THIS ESPECIALLY CANNOT HAPPEN GOING BACK TO A 7-GAME MANDATE!!!!!!!!

Even though I never know who you are

you actually make a lil sense in this post breh

Them years were awful to watch, even with my own school,

If this SWAC staff start kicking azz at USM..........

Breh,

We have gems in our conference "now" and our ADs are now starting to know this.

I respect the coaches in this league and losing Simmons would hurt this conference

Hell I was somewhat excited when ole dude from ASU came..the Jenkins guy

Fake Sympathy.....

Some of you know you love the Big 3 SWAC Mentality. The SWAC Needs All 10 Teams Competitive.

Then you need to hire smart. As soon as Simmons was hired, people were saying he was lookin to go FBS. JSU has a 56 year old coach who is enthusiastic and wants to be in Jackson. He took a pay cut to come to us... We ok in Jacktown. Alcorn is secure right now too.... and so is SU. Fobbs is secure as long as he has Dooley.

I'm actually sad seeing this. For the first time in maybe 3 decades we have good coaches in the swac from top to bottom. I like our new coach and was looking forward to seeing him compete in this league. Losing Hopson and now possibly Simmons is a blow.

I agree it will be a blow but there are other good coaches out there...just have to beat the bushes and find them. It is not like the next coach (if Simmons leaving becomes a reality) will find the cupboard bare. Landing a good coach may not be difficult but he has to hit the ground running.

(I know a REALLY good coach who needs a job.......WINK)

Well, I did tell PV in a previous post that he was coming for Willie. He may take this a launching pad like he did with Alcorn. Put up great numbers at USM and then move on. Can't be mad at all.
And he kinda owe Hopson cause he was blackballed for a minute when Hopson hired him. So will he pay Hopson back????

We all know Simmons wants an fbs hc gig. Would he have a better chance coming straight from a successful pv program or would he have a better chance getting a gig by lighting up cusa opponents? This is debatable...

That was one of the recruiting tactics sTu tried to use when they were trying to sway our QB recruit Hollins... They told him that our staff wouldn't even be in PV next year.. Actually got him to decommit for a few hours until Simmons got on the phone with him...

It is what it is. I can believe that being said just like when we were recruiting some of the same players they were told by PV coaches why go to TSU when they on "near death penalty" with the NCAA?

But wouldn't that be something if Simmons does jet after reassuring Hollins he was staying?

This is why I hate when coaches leave after signing day.

Some folks got short memories

It was a given that he would try... Remember how Mullins at Miss. State put the "plug" in for Hopson to go to USM when he "offered" him a job. Simmons will get a raise at PV and it will be a done deal...

Nah, I think Hopson really wants Simmons. Now the thing is this. How much of a raise do you want to give Simmons?

Secondly does the lure of being a FBS OC overide him being a FCS Head Coach?

I would imagine since Hopson makes 600K, he has half of that to spend on his OC?

Well if Simmons does well there, he could possibly get another HC position at a lower FBS School. It's all comes down to if Simmons is willing to take that gamble and see.
Well.........according to some people here, he should get that same chance if he continues to do well at PV..........just like Hop did. ijs
